Money comes and goes, but if you have the education about how money works, you gain power over it and can begin building wealth." - Robert Kiyosaki Although Financial Literacy Month is coming to an end, the IIAC has plenty of educational resources for all ages. "Don't cut up your credit cards, the problem is not the cards, it's the lack of financial literacy of the person holding the cards and always make the best out of a bad situation" - Robert Kiyosaki You might have heard the term credit card growing up but what exactly is it? Instead of paying with your own cash, credit cards are a plastic card you tap, swipe or insert that allows you to borrow money from the bank or an issuer for anything you want to purchase. But remember, you are required to pay back the money you borrowed in full or monthly instalments. “If you don’t understand the language of money, and you don’t have a bank account, then you’re just an economic slave.” - John Hope Bryant, CEO, Operation HOPE You may have heard people talk about tax season around April and wondered what the big deal is. In Canada, you must file your own tax return each year with the Canadian Revenue Agency, also known as the CRA. When you file your taxes, you report all the income and gains you made to the government. This ensures everyone is responsible for their own taxes and that everyone pays what they owe. “A formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” ― Jim Rohn When considering insurance, choosing the right insurance can be time consuming, however, it’s essential to understand what each policy covers, how much it costs, and any deductibles or limits on coverage. Compare options to find the best fit for your needs and budget.
