We are basking in the incredible energy and support that filled the room that night. The gala was more than just an event; it was a celebration of the power of mentorship and community. Together, we: • Shared stories of impact and resilience from our Alliance program beneficiaries. • Honored the outstanding achievements of our bursary award recipients and awarded a total of $15,000. • Strengthened connections with partners and supporters who believe in the vision of empowering Black students, professionals, and entrepreneurs. • Raised vital funds to continue building the programs that are changing lives. I had a great time chatting with some incredible students during the Deloitte impact day in the Calgary Office, in collaboration with the Crown Mentorship Foundation. I always find public speaking and mentorship energizing, but mentoring a group of deeply curious, young and brilliant students is another level of excitement! During the session, I got to talk about a day in my life - working with Deloitte and the opportunities in my role in Deloitte. I also found it impactful sharing some of the things I wish I had done/known earlier in my career while also learning from the brilliant takes from other speakers. While building a career, it is important to ask yourself two questions periodically: - Am I creating value? - Am I getting value? These questions have helped me in my career journey and allows me to adjust my plans in light of new information/realities. It was so heart warming to have been selected as one of the recipients of the Mentorship Shadow Day put together by Crown Mentorship Foundation I definitely has a great time at the Deloitte’s Calgary office as it was also Deloitte’s Impact Day! I’m grateful to have met amazing professionals from Deloitte Canada and as well learn from them. The day was packed with series of activities such as learning about business chemistry, some of the career paths in Deloitte as well as see the career progressions over the years for various professionals, I also learnt about the importance of mentoring and networking as a student looking at going into the professional workplace soon. I want to say a Big thank you to Crown Mentorship Foundation and Deloitte Canada for hosting such an impactful event. As a part of Deloitte's Impact Day, my colleague Philip Miheso and I hosted the Crown Mentorship Foundation and spent today conducting multiple mentorship sessions with Edmonton university students in the black community. Mentoring students is a passion of mine, so I am very thankful to work with Jaiye Moyela and the Crown Mentorship Foundation to facilitate the day.
