We provide transparency, honesty, and a clear path forward

About us

Managing a Retirement Residence requires expertise. It involves managing relations with residents, families, team members, the community, and with many regulatory bodies. Our team is here to help; we provide transparency, honesty, and a clear path forward. ClearPath is a management and consulting company in the senior living sector in Ontario. We aim to share the experience and knowledge of our team to support owners of retirement residences with their operations. Each member of our team has over 10 years of experience in the senior housing sector, all of us passionate about the people our sector serves and whose lives we touch every day. Our experience covers every aspect of the management of a retirement residence, from hands on work with the team on the ground, all the way to relations with lenders, consultants, regulators and service providers. We do not own any retirement residences, and therefore we devote all our resources to our clients, without any conflict of interest.

🌟 Opinion: How expanding a seniors tax credit can make life more affordable and ease pressure on long-term care🌟   Quebec’s tax credit for home-support services for seniors has seen healthier, happier seniors, a manageable waiting list for long-term-care beds and reduced pressure on hospitals and ERs. It’s time that we adopt a similar policy here in Ontario.   Read the article by ORCA’s CEO Cathy Hecimovich in the Toronto Star: https://lnkd.in/gYFz-6Kz   Learn more: www.seniorstaxcredit.ca

  • Not only was this a project we enjoyed taking on, it also was a chance to expand the kind of services that we offer.

We had a short term project that we really enjoyed this year. As usual, it started with a phone call from a friend from the #seniorliving sector that I have known for years. He told me about a few of their retirement residences that were struggling with occupancy, and asked for our short term support. It was an opportunity to step into existing homes, with a team in place, and support them, as well as the regional team who were responsible for these homes. As many experts in the sector will confirm, occupancy is not only driven by the sales and marketing team, but rather it is impacted by all aspects of operations. So figuring out what needs to be addressed in order to fill the home requires spending time on the ground and engaging in building relationships and trust. We don't believe in coming in as the experts who have all the answers, but rather as a friendly support team, who will listen and learn, and help the team implement their own solutions, as well as offer ideas to be considered. Where necessary our team rolled up our sleeves and jumped in to help execute. We spent 4 months supporting 4 homes, and at the end of our contract all homes were trending up in occupancy. While we left a positive impact, we also gained knowledge, experience and new friendships, which we can never have too much of. #teamwork ClearPath Senior Living Inc.

"Thank God we have you!" That's what we heard from our oldest client yesterday, and the whole world seemed a lot brighter. We've been supporting them for over a year now, we enjoy working with them, and it was so good to hear that they are grateful to have ClearPath Senior Living Inc. by their side. A good reminder that what we do matters, and that we are making a difference. Also a good reminder how easy it is to brighten someone's day with positive feedback. #seniorliving #teamwork

  • Working with people who are motivated by personal missions is very inspiring for our team.

One thing that is really special in working with a couple of our clients, is that they decided to build a retirement residence out of a very personal drive, it is a passion project. They have a vision of supporting their community, or leaving a legacy, by way of building this new residence and providing the services within it. It is very different to work with owners who treat the project like their baby. They care about every detail, from the logo to the colour of the kitchenette cabinetry. They want to be involved in the decision making of who to hire for the ED position, because that person is representing them personally! The family behind Ashley Oaks Retirement Residence had a vision of providing senior housing to their Croatian community. The man behind Living Water Retirement Residence is a strong believer in business as a mission. He has been watching the many retirees frequenting his resorts in Collingwood, and wanted to build a retirement residence to continue to serve them. Neither of these groups had any experience in #seniorliving but they have a passion and life experience, and they are counting on our ClearPath Senior Living Inc. team to help them translate their vision into an operating retirement residence. We are very honoured to be able to support them in living out their visions.

  • Supporting our clients with the work on logo design is another fun part of our work.

Creating a logo is one of those interesting processes that I just love participating in. It needs to tell a story about who we are, in a very simple image. Getting it right is very important, because this will be the image that will represent the residence on every communication going forward. We want to be proud of it. In our initial meeting with Digital Seniority | Senior Living Digital Marketing, Web Design & Consulting, we told them that the logo of this new retirement residence needs to fit with the existing Living Water Resorts logos, and it needs to show that this will be a "resort style" retirement living residence. And so we started out with images hinting of waves, water drops, beach balls…. Then we got stuck, because nothing felt exactly right. As we were researching ideas, I had a thought – Larry Law, the owner, always says that the team at Living Waters Resorts serves with loving hearts. He refers to our hearts in almost every conversation I ever had with him. So perhaps we should try to find a way to incorporate a heart into this logo. When we presented that round of options to Larry, he was immediately drawn to the option with the heart image. He said that using a heart shape in the logo sends a very clear message: we are not only saying that we are serving with our hearts, we are showing it! I was very impressed with how Donald Buckle opened Microsoft paint and created a simple draft of where he thought we should go with this. A hidden graphic designer talent there! From there it was a quick team effort to get the exact right shape and colours. As a good humble leader Larry accepted the team’s opinion that we should stick with the corporate colours, and not go with a bold red heart. We are very happy with the final product. Let me know what you think. #seniorliving #teamwork

4 and a half months ago I posted a 1-year birthday post for ClearPath Senior Living Inc., and mentioned in it that most small businesses don’t make it past their first year. Back then, 4 and a half months ago, we had one ongoing management contract, with Ashley Oaks Retirement Residence, and we were a bit worried about our future. One client can’t support a company of 3.5 people. Two short consulting gigs helped with cashflow, but didn't turn into long-term work. We had a few leads in the pipeline, but nothing firm, and so we weren't *very* worried, but still, we worried. Well, here we are, 4 and a half months later, and we have 3 clients with ongoing management contracts, and an additional short-term contract with a 4th client. We are not worried anymore! In fact, it got a bit busy, and we got ourselves some additional part time help from our old friend Andrea Peckham. I can't say often enough how much I appreciate the support of my community, people who reach out to ask how things are going, people who refer leads to us, people who cheer us along. Thank you! And I also greatly appreciate the faith that Elisabete Garcia-Refai had in our little company, and its potential. Happy 1 year work anniversary to her! And btw, we are still on the hunt for an ED for the new Living Water Retirement Residence coming to Collingwood soon! Please refer your ED friends :)
