  • On Saturday, May 25th, our community gathered for a heartwarming fundraising event at Brunswick Bierworks. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as patrons enjoyed live music by the talented band Nauty Buoyz, enjoyed delicious food from Slayer Burger and Miguel Is Cooking, and treated themselves to sweet treats from an ice cream truck. Through beer sales and raffle ticket purchases, we raised an impressive $4000 for the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation. Our contribution will directly impact the lives of patients and their families, and we couldn't be prouder.

  • As the sun sets over the vast Canadian landscape, there’s a frothy tale brewing—a story of resilience, innovation, and the golden nectar that has quenched our thirst for centuries. Let’s raise our virtual glasses and dive into the fascinating history of beer brewing in the Great White North. Beer’s journey in Canada began with the first settlers and traders in the 17th century. European immigrants brought their brewing know-how across the Atlantic, adapting it to the rugged Canadian terrain. In New France, where vineyards struggled, beer became a household staple. Why? Because it was safer to drink than water or milk, thanks to its natural preservation properties. The long boiling process killed off pesky microbes, making beer a reliable choice for hydration. Fun Fact: Louis Hébert, one of the earliest settlers, planted barley for beer in 1617. A Parisian at heart, he dreamt of vineyards, but Canada’s climate nudged him toward brewing instead. Under British rule, beer production blossomed. Breweries sprouted across the land, and beer became a beloved beverage. It wasn’t just about quenching thirst; it was about community, celebration, and camaraderie. The British knew that beer was more than a drink—it was a cultural cornerstone. Did You Know? Beer has been a stable source of tax income for Canadian governments. In 2016, it contributed a frothy $13.6 billion to our GDP, employing nearly 149,000 people. That’s a lot of hops and dreams! Fast-forward to today, where a new trend is bubbling up: non-alcoholic beer. As Canadians seek healthier lifestyles, the demand for booze-free brews has skyrocketed. These crisp, malt-kissed alternatives offer all the flavour without the buzz. Non-alcoholic beer sales volumes are growing at a staggering 22 to 25 percent, outpacing most alcohol categories. Breweries of Canada reports rising sales volumes and revenues as premium and craft non-alcoholic brands hit the market. Calling All Aspiring Brewers! Are you passionate about hops, malt, and the alchemical magic of fermentation? Consider a career as a brewer! Whether you’re a science geek, an artist, or a flavour explorer, the brewing industry welcomes all. From mastering recipes to tinkering with equipment, brewing is equal parts science and artistry. Tip: Explore brewing schools, apprenticeships, and local breweries. Dive into the world of malts, yeasts, and hops. Who knows? You might create the next iconic Canadian brew! So, my fellow beer enthusiasts, let’s toast to Canada’s brewing legacy. Whether you’re sipping a classic lager or a non-alcoholic IPA, remember that every pint holds a piece of our rich history. Cheers!🍺
