BluFly 🛩️ | January, 2025 If we sent a dedicated crew out focused solely on capturing the best New Year-themed aviation photo we could not have done better than this one: it's of the famed P-38 'Tangerine' from the esteemed Erickson Aircraft Collection of Madras, Oregon. The photo was taken by our friend Daggerville at the Abbotsford International Airshow in 2022. Thanks for letting it grace our first cover for 2025, Dag. In his latest 'In The Air' editorial our Managing Editor Terence C. Gannon tries to eschew the usual trappings of the New Year and instead uses the column to detail BluFly's approach to its Story-of-the-Day. But eventually he relents and reflects a little on the past year and muses about the year ahread. Read with link. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g9xZCMdu 🏷️ #aviation #newyear2025 #p38 🏞️ 🛩️ ⚔️ 📍 🇨🇦 📸 Daggerville

« Making a HUGE Cardboard Glider » Given it was Boxing Day 📦 yesterday we wanted to provide a little inspiration for what to do with all the empty ones which may still be cluttering up the living room. At those in which there are no sleeping cats. 🐈 Looks like a good project although we do recommend against scaling it up to crew-carrying size. « A Handley Page Hastings (TG 582) flying over London, Christmas Island (now Kiritimati), Line Islands, at the time of the British H Bomb test. » We're wondering how many optimistic RAF crew members wrote "London, Christmas" on some long-forgotten duty request and wound up here: London on what in 1956 was called Christmas Island (now Kiribati). In August. 🏷️ #aviationhistory #royalairforce #kiribati 🏞️ 🛩️ ⚔️ 💺 📸 Navigator Dennis R.H. Hobbs | Royal Air Force (RAF) via Wikimedia Foundation in public domain.

The Shepherd | Destined to be a classic in its own right, this is an outstanding retelling of the famed Frederick Forsyth aviation fable set on Christmas Eve of 1957. It's a little hard to imagine there are red-blooded avgeeks amongst us who did not see 'The Shepherd' last Christmas. However, if you somehow missed it (and even if you didn't) do you have a treat in store for *this* Christmas. The trailer, with the link, will get you started. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gRtTb3rB 🏷️ #aviation #frederickforsyth #theshepherd 🏞️ 🛩️ ⚔️ 🎬 📸 Disney+ (The Walt Disney Company)
