What is the elevator hoistway construction tolerance? Is it CSA Standards A23 standards concrete tolerance? Or does the Technical Safety BC checklist have any specifics for this? Luckily the elevators weren't ordered .. but very interesting the shop drawings were approved! or like the consultants call it in #BC and #ON "REVIEWED" to avoid liability for the owner/developer's 30% deposit to fabricate the elevators! No matter where your project is at .. Pair of #Toronto #office buildings would be torn down for 4-tower #condo complex Two #office buildings in the heart of #North #York are now on the chopping block and could soon be replaced by a vast new #development that would bring four tall #towers to a site just east of Yonge and Sheppard. Developer Lev Living has proposed to raze the existing buildings and redevelop the site with towers rising 59, 53, 49 and 30 storeys, which would rise from a pair of mixed-use podiums. With heights of 194, 172, 159 and 105 metres, the quartet of new buildings would be some of the tallest buildings on the North York City Centre skyline. Their designs from B+H Architects are a departure from the typical glass-box aesthetic that dominates the local skyline, with geometric forms including curved brick elements that eschew the #Toronto norms. Sneak peek at our #ACBIM service! From our recent project in the City of Toronto. The slab column connections are the most critical joints for the structure integrity, and should never be compromised by any means! Our deep understanding of structure engineering makes us the best capable of finding the issues that no other #BIM outfit would ever even think about! In one of our reviews, we found a trench drain disconnecting the slab and column, making the slab less than 2 inches at the trench drain side, which compromised the structure capacity of this connection. What is this design constructed as is, what would happen? The area around this column will be stressed under punch shear and negative moment, which will create cracks, and likely some deformation in the slab, which will cost tons to be fixed, especially in an occupied building! Not only do we create a very detailed model and review it against each other, but we also go the extra mile .. we deeply dive into things that you never see in the drawings or the models, such as geometric clash detection, but to the depth of understanding how the different systems perform. QuadReal Revises Plans For 45-Storey Purpose-Built #Rental Project In Mount Pleasant Plans for a 21-storey #residential development that received zoning approvals in 2022 were recently revised to propose a 45-storey purpose-built #rental building offering 527 new dwelling units in #Toronto's Mount Peasant neighbourhood. The updated plans were submitted in mid-November by #Vancouver-based developer QuadReal Property Group and are currently under review. If approved, the #development would replace four semi-detached dwellings and a four-storey portion of the Briton House Retirement Centre. Planned for the 22,507-sq.-ft site is the demolition of the existing structures to be replaced by a building designed by Sweeny &Co Architects Inc. featuring a five-storey podium and 40-storey #tower element constituting 354,132 sq. ft. At grade, you would find a 4,628-sq.-ft Privately-Owned Publicly Accessible Space (POPS) along Soudan and Brownlow that, according to the application's planning rationale, would provide "a publicly accessible amenity and seating areas, enhancing the public realm."
