YKK was the first Japanese company to set up operations in Georgia in 1970, and we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our factory in Macon, GA in 2024. Check out this new video by FUJISANKEI COMMUNICATIONS INTERNATIONAL INC. telling the story of what prompted so many companies, including YKK, to choose Georgia. https://lnkd.in/e9CkqfpK

It is with profound sadness that we at YKK mourn the passing of our dear friend, President Jimmy Carter. His legacy of kindness and dedication to humanity deeply touched us all. In 1972, then Governor Jimmy Carter’s visionary plan to attract Japanese investment to Georgia led to a strong bond with YKK founder Tadao Yoshida, resulting in YKK establishing its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia. His initiative paved the way for hundreds of Japanese companies to set up operations in Georgia, collectively employing more than 30,000 Georgians. We are forever grateful for President Carter's friendship with the people of Japan and for helping YKK find our home in Georgia. We will miss him dearly and honor his legacy.
