Fostering empowerment at our Connected Women Dinner ✨ Hosted and co-sponsored by our Women and Allies Employee Resource Group (WAERG) and Research Liaison team respectively, Woven by Toyota recently held its first ERG networking dinner to great success! 🏃♀️🏃♂️ Woven by Toyota members laced up to participate in the annual Toyota Ekiden! The Toyota Ekiden (Japanese for road relay race) is a celebration of teamwork, determination, and tradition, where over 400 teams from across Toyota’s global network come together to compete at passing tasuki (baton) to one another in the ultimate test of collaboration and endurance. A small team of our own passionate runners, along with dedicated supporters, came together at the Toyota Sports Center in Aichi Prefecture in Japan to take part in this iconic event. 💪✨ Congratulations to our runners for finishing strong and thank you to everyone who cheered them on, both in person and through the livestream! #WovenbyToyota #ToyotaEkiden #Ekiden #TeamworkInMotion #RunningTogether

👩🦽 Disability is diverse. Deepening our understanding of this diversity is key to designing products that truly make a difference in people’s lives. Employees at Woven by Toyota had the opportunity to do just that this week during an open session hosted by colleagues Satoru and Sena. Together with HR leaders, they shared personal insights about their lived experiences as wheelchair users and the considerations needed as we co-create future mobility solutions. 🏀 To make these insights tangible, Satoru — also our resident wheelchair basketball athlete — led a hands-on demo with competition-grade wheelchairs, offering everyone a firsthand perspective on accessibility and the opportunities it presents. The session reminded us all that even among wheelchair users, needs, expectations, and challenges vary widely, and that innovation has to be adaptable, inclusive, and guided by diverse, personal experiences. Toyota Research Symposium 2024: Our fifth global forum on mobility innovation comes to a close! Held at our Nihonbashi office in Tokyo, the three-day event spearheaded by our Research Liaison team gathered close to 500in-person and online participants from across the Toyota Group’s global research network to take on some of the most transformative topics in mobility today. This year, the symposium focused its keynotes, workshops and deep technical discussions around  the role of Machine Learning and Large Language Models in reshaping automotive and robotic systems. Specialists and thought leaders came together to explore how we could partner to effectively translate innovative research into real-world applications, sharing strategies to accelerate the realization of a range of exciting AI-driven mobility solutions. Happy to share I recently joined government officials and business leaders at the conference in Tokyo, organized by the international non-profit Climate Group, titled "Toward Carbon Neutrality in the Mobility Sector – A Focus on Electrification." This time, I put a particular focus on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to reaffirm our commitment to the multi-pathway strategy. We want to deliver next-generation BEVs with longer driving ranges, customizable fun-to-drive value, and more. We know there are still remaining multiple challenges/barriers to overcome to see wider use of BEVs. However, we will be accelerating our efforts to make ever-better BEVs, reinforcing our multi-pathway approach, to move forward on the goal of a more sustainable mobility future. #toyota #sustainability #electricvehicles #BEV #innovation #technology #carbonneutral

Diverse Threads, One Woven. In our Nihonbashi office, colleagues from Toyota and Woven by Toyota came together for a diversity-focused discussion and networking event. Highlights included: 🚗 A workshop and team exercise where participants built "cars" from everyday materials, sparking conversations on how we can leverage diverse perspectives to drive creativity and foster the same collaborative spirit in our day-to-day work. 🎤 An insightful panel where leaders shared their experiences on navigating change, building strong networks, empowering women and meeting the needs of an equally diverse customer base. 🤝 A networking session that fostered connections across teams and departments, opening doors to new opportunities and exciting collaborations. The evening was a chance to bridge viewpoints, exchange experiences, and build a shared understanding of the unique challenges faced by women and others from diverse backgrounds in the workplace and beyond. By breaking down silos, fostering open dialogue, and encouraging empathetic listening, we believe we can create environments that support meaningful change and make Woven by Toyota, Toyota, and the world, a more inclusive place.
