We were pleased to welcome the First Minister of Wales, Eluned Morgan MS, and the Ambassador of Norway to the UK, Tore Hattrem to break ground on our Swansea Greener Grid Park, our first electricity grid stability scheme in Wales. 🦺⚙️ ➡️ Once fully operational, the grid stability site will enable more renewables to operate on the grid and contribute to the delivery of the Welsh and UK Governments’ net zero and electricity decarbonisation objectives. This will help to make fossil fuels a thing of the past and bolster the nation’s energy security. ⚡️ The technology will also help deliver a stable, secure and cheaper power supply to households, businesses and Wales’ industrial sector. "Swansea Greener Grid Park is a stand-out example of how Wales can serve as a beacon of green energy innovation, hosting technological solutions that benefit Welsh communities whilst bolstering the nation’s wider energy security," says Richard Mardon, Head of UK Development. 🌟 Here are two things that are true: 1️⃣ True: we’re super proud of this report! 2️⃣ Also true: we know not *everyone* will read *all* 70+ pages. With those two truths in mind, we went and picked out three of the most interesting graphs projecting our energy future and put them together in a video that we *almost* kept under 60 seconds! ⏱️ Bring on the graphs! 📊 Dive into the full Green Transition Scenarios report here: https://lnkd.in/dSfKSGhh

Welcome to Thornton Greener Grid Park! 🔋 The 200MW Battery Energy Storage System, located in East Yorkshire in the UK, represents an investment of £150 million in the British renewable infrastructure, and is the largest battery scheme in our international portfolio. 🙌 👉 Once operational, Thornton GGP will enable energy from renewable sources to be stored during times of low demand and dispatched at times of peak electricity demand. Guy. Nicholson, our Head of Zero Carbon Grid Solutions explains more ⬇️

We are pleased to announce that Pål Eitrheim has been appointed as our new Executive Vice President for the Nordics! 🎉 – I am very proud that Pål Eitrheim has accepted the important role as head of our power plant operations and project development activities in the Nordics. Pål will oversee Norwegian hydropower, the backbone of Statkraft, which constitutes one-third of Norwegian power production, and which we are in the process of further developing for the future," says CEO Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal. "Statkraft is Norway’s and Europe's largest producer of renewable power, and thus one of the most important companies in the energy transition. I look forward to using my experience, skills, and commitment to further develop Statkraft during an exciting and crucial phase," says Pål Eitrheim. Our Nordics business area owns 158 power plants in Norway and Sweden, and generated over 53 TWh of renewable energy in 2023. With major investments planned in hydropower and wind power in Norway by 2030, we are entering a transformative period for Statkraft and the renewable energy sector. Pål Eitrheim will officially join us by June 2025, succeeding Dag Smedbold, who has been serving as Acting EVP following Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal’s appointment as CEO earlier this year. Welcome to Statkraft, Pål! 👏 ----- Photo: Ole Jørgen Bratland / Equinor ASA

A Day to Remember in Chile! Last week, we proudly launched three brand-new wind farms—Cardonal, Manantiales, and Los Cerrillos—in Chile’s O’Higgins Region. With a combined capacity of over 100 MW, these farms will generate 330 GWh of clean energy annually, the equivalent to powering 100,000 homes 💨🏡 We were honoured to celebrate this milestone with Energy Minister Diego Pardow, Regional Minister Claudio I. Martínez Molina, Norway’s Ambassador Per Anders Nilsen, EVP International Ingeborg Dårflot, and the incredible Statkraft Chile team, whose dedication made this vision a reality 👏

Why settle for blue when green is the future? ✅ Hydrogen is a highly versatile energy source that can power trucks, generate heat, and be used as raw material. It doesn’t produce any greenhouse gas emissions when burned, but the method used to produce it determines how environmentally friendly it is. Many say that green hydrogen is difficult. We’re prepared to offer it. And as Europe’s largest renewable producer, we can power it ⚡ This week, we look forward to participating in European Hydrogen Week, from 18-22 November. Join us at the Business Norway pavilion in Hall 11, Stand C90! 💡

Solar panel end-of-life reuse ♻️, fully automated energy management ⚡, and building information modelling to drive value creation – how do we best do it? In November, we united colleagues from 46 units within Statkraft to tackle some of our key challenges on the road to renew the way the world is powered 🌍 It is the fourth time we have hosted a hackathon focused on business for the future, and it keeps on giving. Gathering diverse personalities and perspectives for two and a half intense days of problem solving creates not only great, innovative ideas but also friendships across countries and subjects 💡 A huge thanks to everyone involved for your dedication and creativity. See you next year! 🙏
