Barges in the jungle, terminals, and chemical tankers—Odfjell's story in Brazil is an ongoing adventure that keeps adding new chapters 🇧🇷 For Norwegian-born Knut Øvrebø, the journey began with a mission in the 1970s that was supposed to last six months. Instead, he put down roots and has since led our growing Brazilian shipping operations. "The first time I stood on the bridge and looked out over the ‘endless’ deck of tanks, it was a bit overwhelming. At the same time, it was very energizing. It's on the bridge of Odfjell's largest tankers I want to be," Anita Håvardsen says to Kystens Næringsliv editor Arvid Steen. She started as a trainee in 2020 and has just finished her cadetship. Early in the new year, she will debut as an officer, joining a growing number of women seafarers on board our ships. "I'm excited. It's important to stay humble and ask for help when needed. You can never know too much, and there's always something new to learn. I see a long career as an Odfjell officer ahead of me." From cadets to seasoned seafarers: These nine colleagues on board Bow Cecil all started their journeys in our cadetship program. They have since worked their way through the ranks, traveled the world, and risen to become captains, deck officers, and engineers. These days, this team and all our crews on board are preparing to celebrate Christmas together at sea, playing a vital part for Odfjell and our customers worldwide. We wish all our seafarers a safe and Merry Christmas on board ✨ Thank you 🙏

As 2024 comes to a close, we look back at a year filled with impactful meetings that highlight the importance of collaboration in the maritime sector 👏 Throughout the year, we have seized the opportunity to strengthen relationships that drive innovation and progress across the industry 🙌 One notable event took place in Bergen in June, where we had the pleasure of welcoming specially invited guests to a tailored seminar. Among them were Chee Wai Leong, General Manager of SUMITOMO CHEMICAL ASIA PTE LTD, and Sara Johansson, Chartering Manager at Alcotra S.A. Their perspectives on the value of cooperation and communication align closely with our efforts to fully understand and respond to our customers' needs—and how we can tackle future challenges together. As Sara said: "Meeting up with people and getting to know them gives you a better understanding of how they work and how we can help each other move forward in this industry." Take a look👇 Many thanks to all our partners and everyone we've collaborated with through 2024 🙌

December 9 marks the World Anti-Corruption Day 🚫 Corruption is still a major problem in some countries, and crews have long found it challenging to call certain ports. Collaboration and collective action are critical in combating corruption. Odfjell has been an active member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) since 2022. Through this partnership, we contribute to driving systemic change. 👉 Thanks to the joint efforts of MACN members, ethical standards are improving in key shipping markets: MACN members can document a 100% success rate in resolving corrupt demands in over 4,000 vessel port calls. "At Odfjell, we have a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of corruption, and we will continue working to build a fairer and more transparent future for the maritime industry, one step at a time. Today, on World Anti-Corruption Day, we reaffirm our commitment to integrity and transparency," CSO and board member of MACN, Øistein Jensen, said.

Sharing industry insights ahead of the 2025 Norwegian General Election: A team from the Green Party Norway, Maritime Bergen, Norsk Sjøoffisersforbund and the Norwegian Shipowners' Association (Norges Rederiforbund) sat down with CEO Harald Fotland to discuss priorities for the maritime sector. His key points: 👉 Long-term and stable regulatory frameworks are of the utmost importance to ensure and further develop the Norwegian maritime cluster 👉 The present tax incentive scheme for Norwegian seafarers needs to be improved to secure future access to Norwegian maritime competence 👉 Norway should focus more on incentivizing the development of novel energy efficiency solutions Thank you for visiting and for an interesting discussion, Ingrid Liland, Christine Henriksen Ødegaard, Suzanne Michelle Rødseth, Thomas Saxegaard, Endre Borgen Mæland, Even Storheim and Frøya Skjold Sjursæther.
