On December 4, we hosted an inspiring seminar at NMK in Ålesund, focusing on Digital ID—a foundational building block for any digital transformation. The event highlighted how standardized digital identification can unlock new business opportunities, streamline processes, and enhance competitiveness within the maritime value chain chains. Leading experts in digital identification, standardization, and practical implementation shared their insights, including Stefan Genser (Identiv), Espen Braathe (GS1 Norway), Bjørn Ravnestad (Sykehuspartner HF & Helse Sør-Øst RHF), and Trond Henriksen (Atea Norge AS). Participants, both on-site at ÅKP’s Blue Innovation Arena and online, explored how this technology is already driving value across sectors—from healthcare to maritime industries. The seminar was organized by GCE Blue Maritime Cluster together with NCE Blue Legasea, Digicat Norsk Katapultsenter, Invig AS, and Gagn AS. We hope participants gained valuable knowledge on implementing Digital ID in their organizations and leveraging its potential for growth and innovation. GCE Blue Maritime Cluster has joined the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT) initiative. 🌊 WaterborneTP has been set up as an industry-oriented Technology Platform to establish a continuous dialogue between all waterborne stakeholders, such as classification societies, shipbuilders, shipowners, maritime equipment manufacturers, infrastructure and service providers, universities or research institutes, and with the EU Institutions, including Member States. This membership opens opportunities to influence the maritime industry's future in Europe actively. The first step in this direction was working towards securing the role of "Pillar Leader Digital Green." With the approval of GCE Blue Maritime Cluster as a partner at the partnership meeting on November 13, it is also official that our EU Advisor, Jan Børre Rydningen, will assume this role. "In this role, I will, of course, have a European perspective, but there is no doubt that Norway is far ahead in digital innovation. At the same time, it’s clear that Norwegian players have much to learn from other European actors, and together, we can build a competitive and sustainable maritime industry in Europe."
