Eric Severson, Chief People, ESG, & Belonging Officer, recently sat down with Dina Costandina Aletra of Medium’s Authority Magazine to discuss creating a culture where associates feel empowered to be their authentic selves and the strategies we put in place to cultivate a culture of Belonging here at NMG. "At Neiman Marcus Group, we define belonging as diversity + equity + inclusion = belonging. Belonging is the outcome we focus on because none of those other things matter unless they result in a person feeling like they belong," Eric shared. "Teaching belonging is about using evidence-based techniques for communicating with others, listening, and resolving conflict. It’s about teaching people how to interact with those who have different beliefs, listen, negotiate, and reach agreements on how to work together effectively."
