  • Shower Enclosures: The Cornerstone of Contemporary Bathrooms Shower enclosures can be categorised into three major types – frameless, framed and semi-frameless. In recent times, frameless shower enclosures have gained popularity for their clean, modern look and the illusion of space they create. Without frames, the glass panels are secured with hinges to the wall and base. While the primary purpose of a shower enclosure is to separate wet and dry areas, cubicles have now evolved into essential design elements in bathrooms. “Tinted and frosted glass panels are becoming popular choices, and matching the frame finish with other bath fittings creates a cohesive look. Additionally, water-repellent coatings, now gaining popularity, make the cubicles much easier to maintain and clean,” shares Santhanam. • Marble’s appeal is rooted in its natural beauty, which has made it a symbol of elegance in both architecture and interior design. Each marble slab is unique, with its own veining patterns and colour variations that transform it from a mere material into a work of art. For instance, underlit marble countertops or walls can dramatically enhance the stone’s natural veining, creating a captivating visual effect that elevates the overall ambience of the space. Embedded LED lighting within marble can produce glowing, ethereal surfaces, particularly in vanity areas or around mirrors, adding a modern twist to classic materials. These innovative applications not only showcase marble’s versatility but also push the boundaries of traditional bathroom design, creating spaces that are both cutting-edge and timeless. #luxurybathrooms #marble #marblebathrooms Read more: https://lnkd.in/g_2a8nMy

  • In contrast to minimalism, which champions simplicity and clean lines, maximalism thrives on abundance, mixing textures and layers to create a sense of opulence. Architects and interior designers believe that this style is about personality, creativity, and visual stimulation, making it an exciting choice for contemporary bathrooms. Both the designers believe that maximalism is well-suited to Indian bathrooms due to the country’s cultural appreciation for boldness and opulence. Flamboyance and extravagance are deeply ingrained in India’s rich cultural and regal traditions. Historically, bathrooms were meticulously planned and designed to offer grand experiences. This tradition continues today as people embrace innovative materials and techniques to create personalised spaces. • The segment has become quite attractive for the manufacturers of bath products too and the kids are now deemed to be a key influencer in the buying process. We have seen a massive influx of kid-centric collections in paints, surfaces, fixtures, wallpaper and accessories. This has given the designers plenty of choices in materials and fixtures to work with.  A kid’s washroom should be provided with materials that can sustain wear and tear, are durable and have high resistance. All materials used on walls, floors, vanities and other fixtures must be able to facilitate cleaning and water conservation wherein, a minimum amount of cleaning agents and water is used. A well-designed kids' washroom focuses on creating a fun, exploratory space with a cheerful atmosphere, prioritizing hygiene and safety. Industry experts share insights on the design, popular color schemes and finishes, and the best settings for the playful washrooms. • The most vital aspects of designing an efficient and pleasing washroom, Kapoor opines, “When a client sings in any part of his washroom instead of just his shower it is a successful design.” He further added that washroom accessories also play a key role in uplifting the design of the space. “Accessories and furniture are something which makes a washroom complete. These are the things that differentiate a washroom from another.” Located at Ashok Nagar in Chennai, the washroom has been designed in such a way that it is divided into four parts divided by walls forming a plus sign. The clients are leading film personalities. The unique aspect of the design is that “Hypothetically it can be used by four people at once.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/g9uUKJVq

  • Wood as a material in a washroom gives the space a very earthy and rustic feel. However, the durability and integrity of the wood remains at risk of being compromised due to the proximity to both water and steam. The popular theory is that having water all around could damage and warp the natural essence of wood in the long run. While mixing wood with moisture sounds like a recipe for disaster, thanks to a host of modern technologies, this idea no longer holds water. Designers are using wood creatively in the washroom to uplift the aesthetics and feel of the washroom while keeping in mind its limitation. To Read full article: https://lnkd.in/gAfePKjE Dr. Ponni M.
