Yesterday, I had a conversation that left me truly inspired. SAYUJ DAMODHARAN, a sailor from the Indian Navy, connected with me on LinkedIn last year. Yesterday, we spoke for an hour, and his journey amazed me. He retired in Jan 2018 after 20 years of service, not by choice but due to his father's sudden medical condition. When corporate jobs didn’t materialise, he began with something small—repairing a Naval ship's electrical equipment, alone. Just two years into his venture, COVID hit. With 90+ employees, Sayuj didn’t lay off a single person. Instead, he provided sufficient sustenance for over four months. Fast forward to today, he leads a team of 600+ employees, working across Cochin, Vizag, Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, and even internationally at Vietnam, Myanmar and UAE.
