The recently concluded Paris Paralympics was a huge success for India. With the largest ever contingent of 84 para-athletes, India ended with a medal tally of 29 medals and among the top 20 countries. If one does however take a closer look at the contingent, one will notice the absence of para-athletes from West Bengal. And this isn't the first instance; Bengal athletes have been missing from international sporting events since the past few years. The main reason behind this is the lack of training to transform intermediate athletes to elite athletes. Once a champion state of India, West Bengal has seen a turmoil in disability sports. To address this gap, an initiative has been taken for the training of intermediate athletes in West Bengal. Screening camps are being conducted for identification of such athletes. The first camp was held at Hooghly where women athletes with intellectual disabilities were screened. The pictures are of the same camp. Many thanks to Thackersey Group for the support.

Proud moment for Loksadhana School! Our 10th-grade students Pranay Telap, Bhoomika Bhosale, and Tanisha Shinde, led by trainer Rutik Temkar, showcased exceptional talent at the Inter School Product Design Competition held by SPM English Medium School. Their innovative "Cycle Genie" earned them the second rank out of seven competing schools, standing out as the only rural school in attendance. This inventive prototype, repurposing an old cycle to promote fitness while lighting up spaces, caught the eye of senior Siemens engineers who appreciated our students' ingenuity.
