We're down to single digits in the #OlympicCountdown! Today, we dig into the question: why do Indian athletes train abroad before heading to the Olympics? Let's hear it firsthand from two Indian Olympians we had the pleasure of hosting at our bi-monthly #SportscomSpeak discussions. Mr. Cawas Billimoria, one of the first Indian judokas who represented India at an Olympic event, participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in the men’s heavyweight event. He shared with us his experience of training in Japan, and of his present engagement as the Sports Director at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, where he is nurturing the next generation of athletes and #sportsindustry professionals. Mr. Hakimuddin Habibulla OLY, an Olympian swimmer (Sydney, 2000) and engineer who comes with over 25 years of experience in the Indian sporting domain as an athlete and beyond. Since 2006, he has been part of the founding teams of several prominent national sports organizations. He is currently leading the transformation of Indian aquatic engagement with Myrtha Pools and Swimming Matters towards enabling every Indian to love engaging with the water safely and correctly. #swimming #judo #Olympian #Olympics #Paris2024 #Paris2024Olympics #sports #OlympicGames #ParisOlympics #ChasingGold #Cheer4Bharat #JeetkiAur Virendra GuptaJalaj Dani Procam International Private Limited Neeraj Jain Rajesh Kharabanda Rajesh Rajagopalan Ekansh Gupta Mukul Verma ELMS Sports Foundation Monalisa Barua Mehta Udit Sheth TransStadia Mohit Tejpal Yash Bhalawala

Our team had a great start to the year towards growing our mission when we attended the International Swim School Spectacular in Dubai. Our CEO Munazza Habibulla, has the privilege to be a part of the board of advisors at International Swim Schools Association (ISSA). Teach the world to swim and promote drowning prevention - a goal set by ISSA perfectly aligns with our mission at Swimming Matters of teaching a billion Indians to swim and build water safety skills in a safe, fun and correct environment. Based on the above goal, the International Swim Schools Association organised the 3rd International Swim Schools Spectacular in Dubai in January. Spread across 4 days, the conference was packed with unparalleled learnings, sharing and networking for the global swim school industry. Few key takeaways from the conference include - Unlearning and learning anew on conducting swimming and swim lessons to cater for all learners. - Developing swim schools to achieve economic, social and performance outcomes. Munazza also contributed towards a panel discussion with global experts that discussed the Global Market in swim teaching. Bob Hubbard, Heidi Kurth, Barbara Smith, Daniel Fulton, #LoongSwimSchool At Swimming Matters we are constantly working towards bringing best practices to the Indian swimming ecosystem and collaborating with swim centres in India to build a better ecosystem.
