The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in partnership with the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (DDP-MoD), organized the Regional Defence MSME Conclave on 16 December 2024 in Vizag, with support from the Eastern Naval Command and Bharat Dynamics Limited. Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, AVSM, VSM, FOC-in-C, Eastern Naval Command, highlighted India’s goal of achieving 100% indigenous naval platforms during his keynote address, stressing the need for innovation, R&D, and adoption of emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and robotics. Collaboration among MSMEs, academia, and major defence players, he said, is crucial to achieving self-reliance in defence. The conclave provided MSMEs and start-ups a platform to engage with key stakeholders, explore business opportunities, and showcase innovation in various marine defence technologies .
