  • Microsoft Edge is rolling out a new feature that could be a great help for businesses. It’s called Feature Usage sync, and it allows you to sync your browser activity and feature usage data across all your devices. Whether you're working on your desktop, tablet, or mobile, Edge will remember your preferences and keep things consistent. Feature Usage also lets you understand how your team interacts with Edge's features, giving you insight into their workflow, time spent on key tasks, and opportunities to improve productivity. It’s like having a dashboard for browsing habits, giving you the data you need to optimize how your team works online. • Microsoft have rolled out an improved Sticky Notes experience - and it’s a big win for productivity. Sticky Notes now integrates seamlessly with OneNote, keeping all your notes and ideas in one place. The new version of Sticky Notes makes it easier than ever to jot down your thoughts. You can make a note or take a screenshot with just one click. Sticky Notes will even automatically save the source information of the app or window you’re working in, so it’s easy to reference later. Whether it’s a project update, an important idea, or just a quick reminder, Sticky Notes can help you and your team work smarter. Widgets like this are incredibly useful for businesses. They help teams stay organized and streamline workflows by making essential tools easily accessible. You can pin Sticky Notes to your taskbar for quick access or launch it with a keyboard shortcut (Win + Alt + S). It’s also available via OneNote on Android and iOS, so your notes are always within reach whether you’re at your desk or not. If you’re looking for a simple, effective way to boost productivity, the new Sticky Notes is definitely worth exploring. • How is 2025 treating you so far? If you haven't already set any business goals for the year, why not start by focusing on making your business as secure as possible? Not that I want to start the year on a downer, but cyber criminals had a busy 2024. Phishing attacks surged by 28% in the second quarter alone. Phishing is where attackers trick you into revealing sensitive information or clicking malicious links, often by pretending to be someone you are likely to trust. The way it works is quite straightforward, but the tactics are getting smarter... and more dangerous. For instance, last year we saw the rise of AI-powered phishing and multi-channel attacks (through email, SMS, and even collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams). Scammers also started using more advanced strategies, like embedding malicious scripts in email attachments. These methods helped attackers get past traditional security systems, leaving businesses overwhelmed. Larger businesses faced an average of 36 phishing emails every day. Scary, right? The bottom line is this: Cyber criminals are becoming more innovative, and businesses need to do the same. In 2025, let’s prioritize cyber security. Start with stronger defenses, make sure your team is given regular training, and stay cautious with the emails and calls you receive. If you'd like help with cyber security training or need advice on how to protect your business, get in touch. #2025 #CyberSecurity #Phishing https://lnkd.in/exM2-DHg

  • Today marks the anniversary of a real trailblazer in the world of business tech. On January 2, 1979, Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston founded Software Arts, the company behind the very first spreadsheet software: VisiCalc. Heard of it? It was a groundbreaking tool that helped to transform the personal computer from a fun gadget into an essential business device. VisiCalc gave businesses a way to calculate budgets, track finances, and manage data right from their desktops. For the first time, complex calculations didn’t require an entire accounting department - just a PC and a copy of the software. It’s fair to say that VisiCalc laid the foundation for the likes of Microsoft Excel, which is now used daily by many businesses. For business owners, this innovation was more than a calculation tool; it was a mindset shift. It shows how technology can help us work faster, smarter, and more efficiently. As we begin to embrace AI and automation, it’s worth remembering how simple tools like spreadsheets have paved the way for everything we do in business today. Would you have tried out VisiCalc when it was first released? What spreadsheet software do you use in your business today? #TechHistory #Innovation #VisiCalc https://lnkd.in/eQuvQPa7

  • Happy new year. Today I have some good news from Windows 11 and Microsoft 365: Microsoft are introducing rebootless updates for security patches. These updates, known as “hotpatches', let you install important security updates without needing to restart your device. That means less disruption for your team and immediate protection against potential threats. Traditionally, applying security patches meant scheduling updates and restarting systems. This could cause you to put off updates until a more convenient time, and that could leave your business vulnerable. With hotpatching, updates are applied instantly, with no need to reboot your computer. So, now there’s no reason not to stay updated. Security should be a priority for every business, and this update makes it easier to stay protected while keeping everything running smoothly. It’s great to see tools like this making life simpler for businesses of all sizes. Will this be a time-saver for you and your team in 2025? #HotPatching #Updates #Windows11 https://lnkd.in/e4zSpYEG

  • Have you ever set New Year’s resolutions for your business?… As we get ready to welcome 2025, now’s a great time to start thinking about it. If you want my advice, one of the best resolutions you can make is to focus on security, so you can help make sure your business is protected. One idea is to stay mindful of what you install on your devices, even when the apps seem harmless. Take Microsoft’s new Bing Wallpaper, for example. It gives you beautiful daily Bing homepage images as your desktop wallpaper, and a chance to learn more about them… but it also comes with privacy concerns. The app includes code that can access and decrypt browser cookies from Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. These cookies might contain sensitive information, like your browsing activity, which could put your business data at risk. Security starts with being informed. As you plan for 2025, make sure your team understands how to spot potential risks. When you are confident that your business is secure, it frees you up to focus on what matters most. Here’s to a successful 2025. Cheers! #2025 #Resolutions #NewYear https://lnkd.in/eSnTg5sa

  • Microsoft recently removed several widgets from the Microsoft Store, including Calendar and To Do. In some regions, the Photos, Microsoft 365 Feed, and Family widgets have also been temporarily taken down. Microsoft are doing this so they can improve the Windows 11 widgets board, with the intention of making widgets more useful and user-friendly. Widgets can be powerful tools for businesses. They bring essential information - like calendars, tasks, and key updates - right to your desktop. And they’re handy for quickly checking the important stuff without having to switch between apps. While these widgets are unavailable, Microsoft are encouraging people to explore other options in the Store. If you rely on widgets for your daily tasks, keep an eye out for their return. • Big news if you love Teams. It's about to get even smarter with some powerful new upgrades. One of the standout features due to roll out in 2025 is improved transcription and translation capabilities. Teams will support 51 spoken languages and 31 translation languages – so you’ll be able to transcribe and translate conversations in real time, whether your meeting is in English, Spanish, or Mandarin. Once your meeting is over, participants will get an automatic recap in their chosen language, complete with a detailed transcript. There’s also a great new Copilot summary feature coming to Teams, which will let you see a quick overview of documents shared in chats. Only those with file access will be able to view the summary, and it’ll follow the same sensitivity rules as the original file, saving you time while keeping documents secure. If that’s not enough, Teams is also integrating with Storyline. This will let you and your team see updates, share ideas, and stay in the loop about what’s happening in your business, all within the Teams app. These updates are just some of the ways that Teams is evolving into a more inclusive tool for businesses of all sizes. Are you using Teams in your business yet? We can help you make the most of it. Get in touch. https://lnkd.in/eJGQ-fDu

  • Microsoft have revealed some exciting AI-powered updates for Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint – all thanks to Copilot. In Excel, the new “start experience” lets you tell Copilot what kind of spreadsheet you need, such as a budget sheet or sales report. Copilot will then suggest a template and even customize it with headers, formulas, and visuals to kickstart your work. In Outlook, Copilot can analyze your calendar to find the best times for meetings or focused work. It can even draft meeting agendas based on your goals, helping you to stay on track. As for PowerPoint, Copilot is introducing Narrative Builder, which lets you create a polished presentation complete with speaker notes, animations, and a branded design in minutes. It can also translate slides into 40 languages without changing the design of your slides – a huge win for international teams. Microsoft recognizes that AI is changing how we work, and this is just the beginning. These new features have already started to roll out, with Outlook’s update already available, and the Excel and PowerPoint features coming very soon. These tools are designed to make your workday easier, save you time, and boost productivity. Which one would benefit your team the most? https://lnkd.in/edFFfeW9
