Reflecting on a great experience at the HR Conclave of Cambridge MBA, Bengaluru Institute of Technology, Department of MBA, where I had the opportunity to discuss "Employer Branding in the Digital Age" and the critical "Role HR plays in driving organizational change". The panel discussion was a fantastic exchange of ideas on how HR can shape the future workforce amidst evolving technologies. Some of my personal takeaways include: 1. HR’s Role in Embracing Technology: Exploring how HR can align employee skills with new technologies like Generative AI, Chip Design, and Additive Manufacturing to stay ahead in innovation. 2. Preparing for the Future: Discussing how HR can create strategies that promote continuous learning and adaptability, ensuring employees are ready for the future of work. 3. Driving Collaborative Innovation: Highlighting the importance of HR working closely with academia and R&D to foster innovation and keep a competitive edge in today’s fast-paced business world. It was also encouraging to see the next generation of talent so engaged and curious about the evolving role of HR. Their enthusiasm reinforces the importance of staying adaptable and forward-thinking in our approaches. Special thanks to Vivek Vinayak Purekar, the students of Cambridge MBA, Bengaluru and the entire faculty for their warm hospitality and insightful questions. The campus tour, especially the visit to the R&D labs and incubation center, was truly inspiring. Randstad continued to adapt and respond well in Q1 against challenging macroeconomic conditions. Our revenue for the period was €5.9bn, a decrease of 7.8% year over year, EBITA was €177m and margin was 3.0%. We have made good progress against our Partner for Talent strategy over the period, with 90% of our markets expected to have implemented our new specialization framework by the end of this quarter. Last year, Randstad partenered up with Sayodhya, an NGO, to support the establishment of a Training Center in Vikarabad, Telangana. Today, the center empowers tribal women to learn more than just artisan skills; it equips them with the business acumen needed to thrive as successful entrepreneurs. Through their dedication and innovation, these women have transformed traditional crafts into thriving enterprises. Randstad delivered a resilient fourth quarter and full year performance, despite challenging market conditions. In 2023, we delivered revenues of 25.4 billion euro, 6% lower YoY and EBITA just shy of 1.1 billion euro, a solid EBITA margin of 4.2%. Free cash flow was particularly strong, growing by 19% to 883 million euro, a record for Randstad. In a talent scarce world of work, our Partner for Talent strategy is resonating and we are making good strides in its delivery. Our deep understanding of talent and clients, together with our market insights, and our adaptability positions us well to navigate the current environment.
