It has been an honour to curate the day-1 track of the 45th Annual Conference of the Indian Association for Study of Population (IASP), held in Delhi on Dec. 12th. Partnering with IASP Punit Mishra presented RASTA’s impactful journey over the past 6 years - strengthening capacity of state level institutions to design evidence-based programs across NorthEast India.   Followed by a panel discussion on ‘Learnings for Health Programmes’ with Prof. L. Ladusingh, Dr Siddharth Maurya and Zorinsangi Dr was expertly moderated by Dr. Subrato Mondal (USAID). It delved into critical data needs and research gaps tackled by the RASTA initiative of PopulationCouncil Consulting Private Limited.   A special highlight was the insightful presentations by Anchal Purbey and Dr. RAJ KUMAR VERMA, showcasing RASTA’s research on the vulnerabilities of Northeast populations and tribal health and nutrition. Their work shed light on pressing issues and proposed actionable solutions, contributing significantly to the discourse.   The discussions underscored the importance of data-driven decision-making to ensure impactful health programs in Northeast India, highlighting the transformative potential of evidence-based approaches. 🌍✨ Bridging the Gap: Climate Change & SRHR ✨🌍 A one-day event with Climate and Health experts, practitioners and policymakers from South Asia was organized by us. The experts came together to explore how climate change intensifies challenges in SRHR and to co-create solutions for resilient, equitable futures. Learnings across the globe with actionable and impactful insights formed the base of the conversation, mentioning a few: 👉 Odisha’s (India) climate sensitive disease monitoring 👉 Gujarat’s (India) Heat Action Plan 👉 Kerala’s State Action Plan for Climate Change and Human Health (SAPCCHH) 👉 Nepal’s Health National Adaptation Plan 👉 Channelizing funds into health infrastructure in LMICs by Denmark The experts agreed that robust evidence and insights on the intersection of climate change and SRHR are needed further to design collaborative and inclusive policies. Also, innovative mechanisms for building climate-resilient healthcare systems for SRHR services and integrating SRHR into climate adaptation plans emerged as priority areas of focus in the discussion for safeguarding the health of people living in areas affected by extreme weather events. This season, we gave impact a new mask, as we joined with Uday Foundation, ahead of winter peaking to distribute six cartons of clothes and woollens to the underprivileged families staying at a Dharamshala in Delhi.
