This is largely preventable. ECHA, in collaboration with the Roadmap on Carcinogens, is committed to reducing exposure through the Roadmap's ongoing phase, which focuses on 12 key challenges from 2020 to 2024. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐕𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Starting November 29, 2024, lead will be banned in PVC products if its concentration exceeds 0.1% by weight. Since 2015, the EU industry has stopped using lead stabilizers in PVC due to the high toxicity of lead. It can damage the development of the nervous system in children and raise the risk of chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure.
