  • An arrest warrant has been issued against former cricketer Robin Uthappa in connection with a grave case of fraud involving the provident fund contributions of employees at a clothing company he owns. Uthappa has been granted a deadline until December 27 to settle the outstanding amount of nearly ₹24 lakh. Failure to comply will result in immediate arrest. Uthappa stands accused of unlawfully deducting provident fund contributions from the salaries of his employees but willfully failing to deposit these funds into their respective accounts. This deliberate misconduct constitutes a serious breach of trust under Section 405 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with criminal breach of trust. The charges carry significant legal consequences, and Uthappa now faces stringent legal action unless the dues are paid within the specified timeframe. An arrest warrant has been issued against former cricketer Robin Uthappa by Shadakshara Gopala Reddy, the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner – II and Recovery Officer, K.R. Puram. The warrant mandates the recovery of ₹23,36,602 from Uthappa, identified as the defaulter in this case. Uthappa, who serves as the director of Centauries Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, located in Indiranagar, is accused of serious financial misconduct. He is alleged to have deducted provident fund contributions from the salaries of his employees but failed to deposit these amounts into the respective provident fund accounts, a clear violation of trust. This constitutes a criminal breach of trust under Section 405 of the Indian Penal Code. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the legal action now pending against him. Uthappa has been given a deadline of December 27 to pay the outstanding dues or face arrest and further legal consequences.
