  • What's the difference between Santa Claus and Santa (Singh)? One says "ho ho ho”, the other one's jokes make us say "no no no"... There are around 7 lakh people named Santa in India, and also 16,000 named Banta. This is a serious problem for identity triangulation when it comes to police and judicial records. Let us explain. Court records do not contain any photos of the respondent. Nor any other descriptors. The only identifier is the name of the respondent. And even the name might not be correct! Legal records in India are plagued with spelling mistakes.  Translating records from regional languages to English also leads to errors due to phonetical variations.  Just look at the difference in pronunciation between Santa from 'Santa Claus' and 'Santa-Banta'. Coupled with a lack of addresses in court records, it is very easy and common for a case to be wrongfully accredited to an individual. Or worse, cases not appearing when searching the records for any criminal. 1.35 Crore unique names in India means 95 people share a name.  That’s a huge opportunity for false positives and negatives to arise. CrimeCheck’s AI/ML logic ensures you don’t have to worry about it though. Our proprietary name-search algorithm ensures all possible cases are assigned against an individual. Ensuring you full confidence in your legal due diligence.  Combined with the largest database of records in the country, rest assured no case will ever be missed. Because just as Santa maintains a list of good and bad kids across the year, you should be able to distinguish between innocent individuals and criminals accurately :-D #acloserlens #christmas #BFSI #fintech #legal #risk

What’s in a name? From friends playfully twisting your name into nicknames, to the starting letters of your name determining your roll number in school, your name defines many aspects of your life. Most of us have even been hit with the question ‘what does your name mean?’ multiple times, be it as an attempt at small talk by an acquaintance or in conversation with a friend. And more often than not, you loved explaining it to them. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐲. During the filing of an FIR or court record in India, it is not uncommon for spelling mistakes to take place. Infact, they are plagued by it. Given the amount of diversity we have when it comes to regional languages, the problem becomes intensified when needing to translate a name into its English spelling. Ashutosh might become Aashutosh.  Priya might become Preeya. You get the point. Such errors can lead to something far worse than minor confusion—cases of mistaken identity where someone else’s record wrongfully gets associated with you. A quick Google search itself uncovers many such instances of wrongful convictions. It is too much of a risk for all parties to ignore. That’s why 𝐀𝐈-𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 are essential for legal due diligence. Our name-matching algorithm accounts for phonetic similarities and spelling variations, ensuring a level of accuracy that eliminates false positives and negatives. With CrimeCheck, entities can be confident in their legal history checks, ensuring that the answer to “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦?” is never “𝘢 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥.” #acloserlens #BFSI #lending #banks #NBFC #IPO #insurance #NPA #RBI #legal #litigation #law #name
