What's the difference between Santa Claus and Santa (Singh)? One says "ho ho ho”, the other one's jokes make us say "no no no"... There are around 7 lakh people named Santa in India, and also 16,000 named Banta. This is a serious problem for identity triangulation when it comes to police and judicial records. Let us explain. Court records do not contain any photos of the respondent. Nor any other descriptors. The only identifier is the name of the respondent. And even the name might not be correct! Legal records in India are plagued with spelling mistakes.  Translating records from regional languages to English also leads to errors due to phonetical variations.  Just look at the difference in pronunciation between Santa from 'Santa Claus' and 'Santa-Banta'. Coupled with a lack of addresses in court records, it is very easy and common for a case to be wrongfully accredited to an individual.
