Other segments experienced marginal declines. India's EV market achieved 19,48,957 unit sales in 2024, peaking at 2,19,527 units in October. Despite fluctuations, demand remained strong, showcasing increasing adoption trends. - In the E4W segment, Tata Motors dominated with over 46% market share, followed by Morris Garages India and Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] in December 2024. - For E2W sales, Chetak Technology Ltd (Bajaj Auto) led the market, followed by TVS Motor Company Motors and Ola Electric in December 2024. - In the Passenger E3W L5 segment, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Bajaj Auto Ltd Auto, and Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Zypp Electric, an EV-based last-mile delivery service provider, has partnered with e-Sprinto, an OEM manufacturing e-2Ws. e-Sprinto will deploy 30,000 high-speed e-2Ws into Zypp Electric’s fleet over the next three years. Taiwanese motor company TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. secured an order to produce 55,000 EV powertrains for India earlier this year. This includes 5,000 powertrains for 9-meter and 12-meter e-buses and 50,000 for light commercial vehicles. Temico Motor India Private Limited (a 60:40 Joint Venture between TECO and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.) is a subsidiary of TECO established in Bangalore in 2020, with a plant inaugurated in November 2023. Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi Motors have signed an MOU to explore a potential business integration with a focus on intelligence and electrification. The partnership aims to address transformative changes in the automotive industry by leveraging mutual synergies. - Mitsubishi Motors may join Nissan and Honda’s discussions on forming a joint holding company. It plans to finalize its decision on participation by January 2025. Nissan Director, President, CEO and Representative Executive Officer Makoto Uchida said: “Honda and Nissan have begun considering a business integration, and will study the creation of significant synergies between the two companies in a wide range of fields.
