    Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has unveiled the EV of its popular SUV, 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐀, showcasing a blend of familiar design and advanced EV technology. 𝐌𝐫. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, stated that the Hyundai CRETA Electric represents a significant milestone as their first localized electric SUV, combining design, technology, and safety to inspire EV confidence in India.   • In December 2024, EV penetration stood at 6.2% in the 2W market, 27.9% in passenger 3W L5 autos, and 23.3% in cargo 3W L5 autos. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚'𝐬 2𝐖 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 2024: Hero MotoCorp led with 3,28,617 units (1,020 EVs), while TVS Motor Company (8.1%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd (18.8%) showed strong EV penetration. EV-only players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Ampere Electric Vehicles achieved 100% EV sales. Overall EV penetration rose to 6.2%. 𝐄𝐕 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 3𝐖 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 2024): All top 8 L5 Passenger OEMs now offer EVs. Bajaj Auto led with 25,034 units (15.5% EVs). Mahindra Last Mile Mobility achieved 93.6% EV penetration, while Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. hit 28.1%. Overall segment EV penetration: 27.9%. 3𝐖 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 (𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 2024): Bajaj Auto led with 3,965 sales (9.3% EV penetration), followed by Piaggio Vehicles at 2,074 sales (5.9% EV share).     India monthly EV Sales Trend for Dec 2024 In December 2024, E2W sales declined significantly, while E-rickshaws, e-carts, and e-buses recorded slight growth. Other segments experienced marginal monthly declines. India's EV market achieved 19,48,957 unit sales in 2024, peaking at 2,19,527 units in October. - In the E4W segment, Tata Motors dominated with over 46% market share, followed by Morris Garages India and Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] in December 2024. - For E2W sales, Chetak Technology Ltd (Bajaj Auto) led the market, followed by TVS Motor Company Motors and Ola Electric in December 2024. - In the Passenger E3W L5 segment, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Bajaj Auto Ltd Auto, and Piaggio Vehicles Pvt.   • Taiwanese motor company TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. secured an order to produce 55,000 EV powertrains for India earlier this year. This includes 5,000 powertrains for 9-meter and 12-meter e-buses and 50,000 for light commercial vehicles. Temico Motor India Private Limited (a 60:40 Joint Venture between TECO and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.) is a subsidiary of TECO established in Bangalore in 2020, with a plant inaugurated in November 2023.
