About Project: Hamari Bhagidari We are going to start ‘Hamari Bhagidari’ project from July onwards for 3 years with support of Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives. It’s about the youth leadership building by empowering community-based organizations at village level in 90 selected villages of south Sonbhadra U.P. About us
Banwasi Seva Ashram came into existence when its primary work area – South Sonbhadra (then South Mirzapur) – was in crisis, due to a severe famine in 1954. Credit goes to its founding father, the then Chief Minister, Govind Vallabh Pant, who thought of research and development needed to achieve the objective of developing the tribals and leased out 250 acres of forest land for Banwasi Seva Ashram. Its founder members were experienced social workers. The Ashram’s approach is to go into the depth of the problem faced by its beneficiary community, to find appropriate solutions and then implement the programmes with the involvement of the beneficiaries. The framework developed for the involvement and improvement of the beneficiary community is named Gramswaraj Sabha Sangathan. At present, the Ashram has nine major departments: Women’s Empowerment, Education, Khadi and Village Industry, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Health, Environment, Support to Other Volunteer Groups, Gram Nirman or Village Development with and thirteen Village Development Centres.

बनवासी सेवा आश्रम विद्यालयों में होने वाली प्रार्थना। This post is dedicated to all students who have been an integral part of Banwasi Seva Ashram schools and thriving in various professions from progressive farmer, businessman, aware citizen, and leader to lawyer, teacher, engineer, and scientist. Sharing the Ashram school prayer with you which was recorded when guest Dinesh Chandra, visited the Ashram school. Dinesh Chandra Ji is originally hailing from Kanpur, UP and currently living in California, USA and working on leadership development. Dinesh Chandra Ji appreciated Ashram's current students as well as alumni after knowing the glorious history of the School and its alumni and encouraged us to develop it as a model school. I am hopeful listening to this prayer would have taken you all Ashram students to the past and evoked memories associated with the school in the Ashram. Ashram family always wants to stay connected with its alumni and witnesses them receiving abundant success and laurels in their endeavours.

A two-day (1st and 2nd November 2023) Gram Swaraj Sammelan-2023 commenced at the Banwasi Seva Ashram with the lighting of the lamp in the Vichitra Central Hall. Guests Ajay Shekhar Ji, Popatrav Pawar Ji, Arvind Anjum, Dr Chandrshekhar Pran Ji, Ramdhiraj Bhai, Rameshwar Bhai and Gram Pradhan Bindu Devi, and Maju Devi grace the Sammelan. ग्राम स्वराज सम्मेलन 2023 का अतिथि माननीय अजयशेखर जी, पोपटराव पवारजी, अरविन्द अन्जूम जी, डा चन्द्रशेखर प्राणजी,रामधीरज भाई, रामेश्वर भाई, ग्राम प्रधान बिंदू देवी, मंजू देवी, के दीपप्रज्वलन कर उद्दघाटन हुआ ।
