  • Marking 'first anniversary' of launching AZ Forest in Meghalaya, we inaugurated the 'Besterley Earthtree Community Nursery' last week in Shillong. Honoured to host HE Lindy C. British High Commissioner to India, Dr Andrew Fleming, Gaurav Sharma, Head – GBS Service Enablement & Bangalore Hub Director In lines with our promise to plant 62 million trees across 22,670 hectares in Meghalaya, supporting biodiversity and soil conservation, as well as climate and catchment health co-benefits, happy to share that the program is progressing well with over 13.2 million saplings planted across EKH, WJH and WKH districts. Through AZ Forest, AstraZeneca aims to plant and maintain 200 million trees across six continents by 2030, in partnership with leading experts & local communities. Through the Ambition Zero Carbon strategy, we are pursuing ambitious, science-based decarbonisation targets, accelerating progress towards net-zero, and managing the risks and opportunities presented by climate change. Per design, the project will integrate reforestation principles with agroforestry, helping to preserve and restore local ecosystems and create sustainable opportunities for local communities.
