All that glitters is gold this Holidays! This past Saturday, EO Shanghai members, families, and guests came together for our Annual Holiday Party at The Cannery in Shanghai. With a gold theme, and a glimmering festive backdrop the afternoon was packed with delicious food, festive drinks, and time to celebrate the Shanghai international business community together. Members and families gathered to take a pause from the hustle and bustle, and raise a glass to the year behind us - and the adventures ahead. As the drinks flowed with the live music, the energy in the room was a beautiful reminder of the strength, support, and generosity that define our Entrepreneurs' Organization community. This celebration is testament to why we choose to share our time, experiences, and journeys with each other - as members, forums, accelerators and mentors. Together we are stronger. So cheers to the unwavering energy of EO Shanghai, to our incredible members, and to the families and friends who stand beside us. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a prosperous year ahead! A special thanks to Mark at the Cannery for the great venue, Joanna You and our EO Shanghai Board for organizing such a magical afternoon, and our continued gratitude to our chapter sponsors Zhong Lun Law Firm and Pacific Prime for all the support this year, and event sponsor IS Seafood. #EOShanghai #HolidayParty #Gold #Christmas #EntrepreneursOrganization #Xmas #Holidays

Beer, Bread & Bravery - the latest episode of our EO Spotlight Series Podcast with Marion Campan has just dropped. On November 28, EO Shanghai hosted an engaging Spotlight Series Event featuring Zhang Lei, the founder of Drunk Baker. Lei shared his journey hyper-scaling a small bakery into a thriving business with over 500 employees in just four years. With an appealing mixture of humble and strategic insights that resonated with the member audience, Lei emphasized the importance of staying ahead of market trends, selecting optimal locations, and creating an authentic brand identity. He compared the bakery industry to fashion, where success requires anticipating customer preferences and adapting to changes. Through strategic thinking and meticulous planning, Drunk Baker rapidly grew from a single location to multiple thriving outlets, attracting venture capital support and achieving significant revenue growth. Lei’s reflections on timing, decision-making, and balancing growth with sustainability inspired the audience. The evening concluded with heartfelt thanks from EO & EOA leaders, encouraging attendees to apply these lessons of strategy, adaptability, and innovation to their own entrepreneurial journeys. A big shoutout to Marion Campan, EOA’s Spotlight Event Chair, for organizing and conducting the interview, and to Kathleen's Waitan Restaurant & Bar for their venue, view, thoughtfully curated dinner, and a wonderful evening. Subscribe to Marion’s “EO Spotlight Series” podcast if you want to hear the full interview. Hosted at Kathleen’s Waitan Private Room, the event is one of four annual training days for the Accelerator program, designed to foster growth and focus member businesses on what truly matters for success. The day began with Stephane Monsallier, Accelerator program founder and trainer, sharing his entrepreneurial journey. Stephane’s stories of success and failure offered practical strategies for participants to unlock their potential, and grow their businesses. Next, Yehuan Chen, a former EOA member turned successful entrepreneur, shared her strategic approach to building and selling an e-commerce business. Her inspiring talk combined personal journey and insights into navigating a competitive online market with a distinctive approach. The Q&A session, moderated by Leonard Li Chen - a Harvard graduate and tech leader with experience at Amazon and Tencent - brought fresh perspectives, thoughtful questions, and deep knowledge of e-commerce and technology - and made for a lively and insightful discussion. Participants also dove into interactive workshops, SWT analysis, defining their Core Purpose, and exploring ways to stand out in the market, Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG), Vivid Vision and Fanocracy. This is true peer to peer learning for these early stage businesses. Join Us and Grow Together! Exploring the business of art. Last Friday, a privileged group of our EO Shanghai members had the opportunity to be part of a private and immersive tour of the renowned artist Shen Jingdong’s solo exhibition “Simplify” at the Jiushi Art Museum at Shanghai’s historic Bund 18. This MyEO Company Visit was hosted by our very own EO Shanghai member Catherine Lee, founder of Crossing Art USA, a New York / Shanghai based contemporary art gallery and cultural services company who represents Shen Jingdong and many artists around the world. In addition to the exclusive and insightful art tour, Catherine guided an in-depth exploration of the art ecosystem, offering insights into how artist, galleries, curators, museums, auction houses and collectors operate within the art markets. More valuable insights, passion and connections followed during the dinner and drinks at the end of the event. A big thank you to our member host Catherine Lee, and MyEO Chair Tom Hoorn. Stay tuned for the next edition in our MyEO Company Visit series. #EntrepreneursOrganization #EO #MyEO #Art #Culture #Shanghai

How do founders' visionary ideas transform into stories that scale and impact millions? Last week, EO Shanghai had the privilege of hosting Nick Barham, Partner at FNDR, for a keynote and in-depth workshop series on creating impactful brand and business narratives. Renowned for his strategy work with founder-led companies, Nick shared his approach to scaling innovative ideas through powerful storytelling. In his keynote, Making Essential Ideas Scale, Nick discussed the importance of translating groundbreaking ideas into narratives that the world can embrace. He shared the patterns, challenges, and implications he’s observed through his work with ambitious companies in emerging fields. From sustainable food solutions to plastic-degrading enzymes, he highlighted how founders, companies and technologies need clear and compelling stories to gain traction and drive change. Scaling isn’t just about the product — it’s about the story that connects it to people. On the second day, Nick led a workshop to help EO Shanghai members craft narratives unique to their brands. Using principles of brand design inspired by FNDR Partners' work with iconic founders of hundreds of brands including Steve Jobs, Brian Chesky, and Evan Spiegel, he offered a blueprint for creating a brand that endures beyond simply paying lip service to corporate values. He emphasized the importance of incorporating personal experiences and personalities into brand storytelling, giving founders a powerful way to differentiate their brands and resonate deeply with audiences. Thanks to EO Shanghai Events Chair Antony Ward, Board Member Rodney Evans, the JW Marriott Shanghai, and our event team for their thoughtful planning, and to Nick Barham and FNDR for sharing his insights with our community. How do you turn 300 views into 85 million … ? Last Wednesday, EO Shanghai Accelerator (EOA) members gathered at member restaurant Bella Vita Bistro in Shanghai for an inspiring event around video marketing. Simone Xie, Co-founder of GongXin Finance, took the stage first to share her journey of building a highly successful finance channel on Douyin, which now boasts over 4 million followers. She spoke candidly about the tough early days, where some videos attracted only a few hundred views, and highlighted how perseverance and a focus on meaningful engagement eventually led to success. Her top video has since reached 85 million views. Simone’s advice - Leverage platforms like WeChat and Douyin for authentic client connections, encouraging attendees to prioritize content that fosters real engagement over viral reach. Guillaume Rué de Bernadac, founder of Académie de Bernadac - 法国卓尔礼仪, followed with insights on luxury branding and social media. Drawing on his experience building his brand on platforms like Douyin, Xiaohongshu, and Bilibili, he shared that each platform has unique strengths. For example, Douyin favors short, snappy content, while LinkedIn works well for in-depth storytelling. His core message was to know your audience and use authentic storytelling, starting small to test and scale up based on results. The event wrapped up with a lively Q&A, where attendees exchanged ideas on audience engagement and video strategy. Over networking and great food, participants left with fresh insights and actionable takeaways to focus and elevate their video marketing efforts. Special thanks to EOA Chair Erica and EOA Learning/Social Chair Ervis Micukaj, and EO member Samuele Rossi for the beautiful restaurant and food at Bella Vita. Ready to elevate from manager to motivator? Sales leadership isn’t just about closing deals—it’s about unlocking potential, inspiring teams, and driving growth at every level of the organization. Last Friday, EO Shanghai hosted a earning event featuring sales expert Simon Bugge, who brought insights from his extensive experience across Europe and China and his current role at Orkla ASA, a top Norwegian investment group for branded consumer goods. In his talk, “Empowering Sales Leadership,” focused on the critical role of empowering leadership in enhancing sales performance. He shared some game-changing strategies from his career, like his approach to increasing sales turnover in competitive markets. Simon believes in discovering the leaders within your team and empowering them to drive results, creating a ripple effect of growth and consistency. Key takeaways included how to build sales reliability through clear direction, team buy-in, and the right tools and conditions for success. Plus, Simon emphasized why customer retention strategies—like subscription models and loyalty programs—are essential for long-term success. And let’s not forget the early lessons he learned pounding the pavement as a door-to-door salesman, an experience that significantly shaped his character and instilled in him an indomitable spirit of perseverance and resilience. A big shoutout to our chapter event chair Li Chen, and the delightful HYH Maison for their thoughtfully curated dinner and culinary experience. #EOShanghai #EntrepreneursOrganization #Sales #Leadership #Learning #Event #Business #EO

Last Friday, a select group of EO Shanghai and EOA members had the privilege of attending this year’s first MyEO Company Visit (with more to come.. !). At Kadence Studio, we had the opportunity to learn first hand from EO Shanghai member Antony Ward about the creative process and the innovative methods involved in car design—from conceptualization to sketches, 3D digital modeling, and beyond. Antony’s open sharing of his entrepreneurial journey, diverse business models, talent development, social entrepreneurship, and hands-on workshops was truly inspiring. In addition to the valuable insights, we enjoyed great company, an incredible atmosphere, and, of course, in true EO tradition - a little too much excellent food and wine to end the day. A big thank you to our host, Antony Ward, and for an unforgettable and inspirational experience, and MyEO Chair Tom Hoorn. Stay tuned for more to come.
