I was honored to be invited to the launch of "Protecting Civilians from Digital Threats During Armed Conflicts (Chinese version)" this week, jointly hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC (East Asia Office) and the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). As someone working at the intersection of technology, information and media, the insights shared were thought-provoking. One statistic, in particular, struck me: In 2024, more than 50 countries around the world are involved in armed conflicts. This means that one in every seven people on this planet are affected. It's easy to take peace for granted. But what happens in one part of the world can ripple across to others, especially with the help of digital technologies. Staying vigilant and proactive is necessary. The report highlights four key digital threats civilians face during armed conflicts, and the role that governments, humanitarian organizations, and especially technology companies must play. For those of us in tech and media, these challenges aren't distant concerns; they are responsibilities we need to acknowledge and address. https://lnkd.in/eBxBFUMR
