The Heart Chakra impacts our sense of touch, and it is connected to several glands, including the lymph and thymus glands.
Associated with: The seat of your beautiful soul
Balanced: You bring forth the essence of your spirit into existence. Love is all we are. It’s in our inherent nature. Love holds the source of divine wisdom.
Imbalanced: We lose sight of beauty, empathy, love, and compassion for others and ourselves.
Colour: Green
The heart chakra belongs with the thymus gland.
Anahata (literally, “unstruck”) is located at the heart center. Anahata is typically depicted as a green six-pointed star surrounded by 12 lotus petals. On a spiritual level, it’s said to be the home of the higher/infinite, “unstruck” or indestructible self. Anahata is associated with the air element, and with emotional qualities such as peace, love, and openness. Energetically, anahata helps us tap into unconditional love.
Blocks in our heart chakra can manifest in our physical health through stress, heart problems, asthma, jealous, prejudice, evasive, emotionally unavailable, can’t make decisions, closed emotionally, fear of water and weight issues. But blocks are often seen even more clearly through people’s actions. A blockage here means that we are closed off to becoming close to other people in both romantic and non-romantic relationships. People with heart chakra blocks often put others first, to their own detriment. It’s the middle of the seven chakras, so it bridges the gap between our upper and lower chakras, and it also represents our ability to love and connect to others. When out of alignment we feel lonely, insecure, and isolated. When it’s in alignment and open we are playful, show artistic expression & communication of heart’s desire, we are a teacher or educator, we are intuitive, we feel balanced, in harmony, healing, decisive, expansive, loves nature, love water, humanitarian, have global perspective and have a sense of integrity.
Open the Heart Chakra (green). This chakra is all about love, caring, and endearment. When open, you seem to be compassionate and friendly, always working in amicable relationships. If it’s under-active: you tend to be cold and unfriendly. If it’s over-active: you tend to be so “loving” towards people that you suffocate them, and you could be seen as selfish for it.
Sit cross-legged.
Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch on both hands.
Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breastbone.
Concentrate on the Heart Chakra and what it stands for, at the spine, level with the heart.
Silently, but clearly, chant the sound “YAM.”
All this time, continue to relax your body and think of the chakra, it’s meaning, and how it does or should affect your life.
Keep doing this until you are completely relaxed, and the “clean” feeling returns and/or intensifies within your body.
The Other Six Chakras:
1. Root Chakra – at the base of the spine.
2. Sacral Chakra – at the reproductive organs.
3. Solar Plexus Chakra – at the abdomen.
4. Heart Chakra – at the center of the chest.
5. Throat Chakra – at the base of the throat.
6. Third Eye Chakra – between the eyebrows.
7. Crown Chakra – top of the head.
