Britpop band Blur is to play a one-off reunion gig at Wembley Stadium in the Summer of 2023.

It will be the group’s only UK show of the year and marks their first headline show since their performance at Hyde Park in 2015. While details of other world dates are not yet known, here is what we know about this London gig.

When is Blur playing at Wembley Stadium?

The band, which comprises Damon Albarn, Alex James, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree, will play the capital on Saturday 8 July 2023. They will be supported by the British rapper Slowthai, singer-songwriter Self Esteem and electro-pop duo Jockstrap. Doors will open at 5pm.

When will tickets go on sale?

Tickets for the band will go on general sale from 10am on Friday 18 November 2022. You can register now for presale access to tickets sold by Ticketmaster or See Tickets via Blur’s own link here. The presale access starts at 10am on Thursday 17 November. You can also buy tickets here.

According to promoter Live Nation: “A strict limit of 6 tickets per person (and per household) per event applies. Any tickets purchased over this limit may be cancelled and invalidated (in which case you will be refunded).” It adds that under 14s must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

What has the band said about the gig?

Blur, who were famously pitted against fellow 90s group Oasis in a supposed battle of the bands, have expressed their joy at coming together to perform their hits.

Their albums include 1994’s Parklife which gave them four four hit singles: Girls & Boys, End of a Century, Parklife and To the End.

Lead singer Albarn, who has also had success as a solo artist and with virtual group Gorillaz, said: “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again.”

Guitarist Coxon, who is also a painter, added: “I’m really looking forward to playing with my Blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs. Blur live shows are always amazing for me. A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces.”

Bassist and successful cheese maker Alex James said: “There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that on 8 July that room will be Wembley Stadium.”

Drummer Dave Rowntree, who was a Labour Party councillor on Norfolk County Council from 2017 until 2021, added: “After the chaos of the last few years, it’s great to get back out to play some songs together on a summer’s day in London. Hope to see you there.”
