In Short

- The company also announced new features.
- Bing AI will soon get third-party browser support.
When Microsoft introduced the new Bing in February this year, it did some strange things at first. It confused users, made unusual requests, and even seemed to 'fall in love' with some people. These incidents made headlines and a lot was written about the new AI chatbot in town. However, eventually, Microsoft fixed Bing's mistakes and the incidents of the AI chatbot going rogue died down. And today, after 6 months of its launch, Bing seems to be in a strong position to compete with other AI chatbots and has features that didn't exist before.
Announcing the celebration of Bing's launch completing 6 months, the company, in a blog post, revealed how they saw 'over 1 billion chats and over 750 million images fill the world of Bing'. The company also took the moment to announce a new feature that will soon be coming to Bing AI.
Bing AI to get third-party browser support
The Bing AI chat will soon be available on other browsers as well, on both web and mobile. As for now, you can only access Bing via the Microsoft Edge browser. However, availability on third-party browsers means that you won't necessarily need to have Edge in order to use Bing AI.
"With so many new, useful features now a part of Bing, we’re excited to announce you can start experiencing the new AI-powered Bing in third-party browsers on web and mobile soon. This next step in the journey allows Bing to showcase the incredible value of summarized answers, image creation and more, to a broader array of people. You’ll get most of the great benefits of Bing and we’ll continue to optimize along the way to meet your needs across different browsers," the company noted in a blog post.
However, Microsoft also emphasised that users are encouraged to use Edge for the best browsing experience.
"While these experiences work well in your preferred browser, for the best-in-class Bing Chat experience, we continue to encourage you to use Bing in the Microsoft Edge browser. With Edge, you'll unlock longer conversations, chat history, and more Bing features built right into the browser. To experience the best browser for Bing, and get the full breadth of features, simply open the Microsoft Edge browser and click the Bing Chat icon in the sidebar," the blog post added.
Other features
Microsoft also said that they are working on new features like' Bing Chat plug-ins and refining existing experiences' as well. Talking about some latest features of Bing AI chat, Microsoft mentioned those like multimodal visual search in chat, dark mode, bing mobile app, chat history, and image generator in the post.
Bing has surely come a long way since its inception and people are eager to know about the AI chatbot in town that seems to have an answer for every question.
