How to Fix Marvel Rivals Stuck on Loading Screen Issue?
Marvel Rivals often gets stuck on a loading screen when installed on an external hard drive instead of an SSD (Solid State Drive), which can result in slow data retrieval and performance issues.
Even if the game is installed on an external SSD, this issue can still occur. Some players have found success by installing the game on a primary drive where Windows is also installed. Other potential causes for this issue include corrupted game files, network problems, and outdated GPU drivers.
Before making any changes to your system, ensure that your internet connection is working properly. If your internet is functioning as expected, try running both the game and the launcher as an administrator, whether it’s Steam or Epic Games, to prevent interference from a firewall or antivirus program. Additionally, if you use third-party antivirus software, consider temporarily disabling it.
1. Move the Game to Your SSD
SSDs offer faster read/write operations than HDDs, which helps reduce loading times and prevents game stalling during intensive tasks. Even if you have the game on an SSD and it’s not the system disk, try moving Marvel Rivals to your system disk, ideally your SSD or NVMe drive.
1.1 Steam
- Open the Steam Launcher and click the Steam icon at the top.
- Select Settings from the listed options, then click Storage from the left sidebar.
- Select Marvel Rivals from the list and click Move.
- Choose the C drive and click Move to proceed.
- If the C drive isn’t listed, click the drop-down icon next to Local Drive at the top and click Add Drive.
- Select the C drive and click Add.
- Once the drive is added, repeat steps 3 and 4 to move the game content.
- Afterward, try launching the game to see if the issue persists.
1.2 Epic Games
If you do not know where your game files are located, you can follow these simple steps to find them using the Epic Games launcher:
- Open the Epic Games Launcher on your computer.
- Go to the Library section where all your installed games are listed.
- Locate Marvel Rivals and click on the three dots next to it.
- Select Manage from the dropdown menu.
- In the Manage section, look for the option that says Open Install Location and click it. This will open the folder where your game files are stored.
- Once you have located the game files, copy the entire folder to a secure location on your computer or an external drive as a backup.
- Uninstall the game from Epic Games.
- After uninstalling, click Install and choose a destination. Ensure you select the destination where you plan to move Marvel Rivals.
- Click Install and, as soon as it starts downloading, cancel it.
- Return to the destination where you moved the game files. Copy all files and paste them into the folder you selected for Marvel Rivals in step 3.
- Restart Epic Games and you should be ready to go.
- Wait for Epic Games to verify the game files.
- Once verification is complete, launch the game to see if the issue is resolved.
2. Use VPN
Using a VPN can bypass network restrictions or routing issues that might prevent the game from communicating with the server. This helps determine if your network or a regional restriction is causing the issue.
If connecting to a VPN resolves the issue, it likely indicates a network problem on your side or a region restriction. If the issue remains unresolved, it may be due to problems with the game’s backend.
After you get past the loading screen, you can disconnect the VPN to play the game.
- Download and install a VPN service such as Nord or Touch VPN from the official site.
- After installation, open the VPN and connect to a region of your choice.
- Once connected, check if the issue is resolved.
3. Change the Platform
Switching the platform to either Steam or Epic Games may help bypass certain platform-related issues. Some users have reported that switching to Steam resolves issues with Marvel Rivals, while others have found that switching to Epic Games helps.
If your issue stems from compatibility conflicts with the launcher, changing the launcher may reduce the chances of loading issues caused by compatibility or bug-related problems.
4. Update the Drivers
An outdated or corrupted driver could also be a reason why the game keeps getting stuck on loading. Updating your driver ensures you don’t encounter issues due to driver-related functionality defects, so make sure to update your driver before proceeding with further steps.
- Launch Geforce Experience or AMD Reason Software.
- Navigate to the Drivers section at the top.
- Click Check for updates to search for available drivers.
- If a driver is found, click Download and Install.
- Once completed, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
5. Verify the Game Files
Verifying game files restores any corrupted files in the installation directory, ensuring the game runs correctly. During this process, the launcher checks for corrupted files and replaces them by downloading new files from the launcher server.
- Open either Steam or Epic Games.
- Go to the Library.
- Steam: Right-click on Marvel Rivals and select Properties.
- Epic Games: Find Marvel Rivals, click the three dots, and select Verify.
- Steam: Click on Installed Files on the left and choose Verify the integrity of game files.
- Wait for the verification process to complete.
If none of these methods resolve the issue, your last option might be to reinstall the game.
If you haven’t tried changing platforms (from Steam to Epic Games or vice-versa), consider doing so while reinstalling the game. This should help you get past the loading screen.
