The Subway sandwich chain is demanding that other eateries stop using the term “footlong” to refer to a sandwich 12 inches long. In a letter to a Florida restaurant selling “footlong hot dogs” since 1963, Subway says it plans to trademark “footlong,” warning, “You are hereby put on notice to cease and desist from using FOOTLONGTM in association with sandwiches.”
