San Jose police arrest suspect after domestic violence incident

1 days agoSAN JOSE, California — A suspect was apprehended following a domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon incident on Clayton Road, according to the San Jose Police Department.Officers responded to the 10000 block of Clayton Road around 6:00 p.m. after receiving a report of a firearm being discharged. Upon arrival, they discovered the incident and utilized information from the police helicopter, Air 3, to identify a male suspect leaving the scene in a vehicle. Officers located the suspect and conducted a traffic enforcement stop, taking him into custody without further incident.Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence, resulting in the seizure of numerous privately manufactured firearms. The collaboration between ground officers and aerial support from Air 3 was instrumental in ensuring the victim's safety and resolving the situation, stated the San Jose Police Department.

Suspect in custody after 2 children were abducted in King City, authorities say
KING CITY – A suspect is in custody after an Amber Alert was issued for two children authorities say were abducted in King City. The California Highway Patrol said 7-year-old Selene Zavala and 2-year-old Osvaldo Sebastian were abducted and last seen in the area of Livingston Avenue and San Antonio Drive in King City. The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Jacqueline Guajardo, who the CHP said was last seen driving a black 2016 Nissan Altima with a California license plate number 9EXF349. The Amber Alert was issued by CHP on behalf of the King City Police Department for Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. About an hour after the Amber Alert was issued, police said the children were located and Guajardo was in custody. Details about where they were located were not released.

Although it may seem counterintuitive, hospitals release people experiencing homelessness back to the streets all the time, according to Dr. Richard Bryce of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Perhaps they’re treated for a leg infection, then returned to the cold concrete that caused the wound. Chances are they will end up in the hospital again, he said. Indigent care costs taxpayers more than $70 million annually in Denver, and that number is going up now that a sales tax has been approved to benefit the hospital.

Federal government pays Denver $2.4 million to care for migrant foster children
The Denver City Council accepted a federal grant Monday to pay for foster care for unaccompanied migrant children in Denver. The $2.4 million grant will pay for care through Sept. 30, 2025, according to city spokesman Jon Ewing. "The grant funding received for the Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program is entirely federal, so federal dollars pay for the full $2.4 million," Ewing said. "Nothing is coming out of Denver’s budget and DHS isn’t paying the state. The grant pays us."
