Dartmouth Health was recently recognized by two organizations highlighting our commitment to retaining and attracting a diverse workforce. Stay Work Play New Hampshire named Dartmouth Health the “Coolest Employer for Young People” for 2024 at its annual Rising Star Awards event, and we earned The Best Place for Working Parents®' seal! “At our core, we believe that true success happens when every team member—from the most experienced professional to the newest hire—has the support they need to grow and thrive,” said Dartmouth Health chief human resources officer Aimee Claiborne. “With five generations working together across our care environments, we are committed to honoring the unique needs of our people at every stage of life and creating programs and benefits that strengthen a culture of inclusivity and excellence. Our focus isn’t just a strategy—it leads to our team members providing the best care and service we can for our communities and strengthens our position as an employer of choice.” https://lnkd.in/epMfgekD

As the country celebrates Veterans Day by honoring those who have served the United States in the armed forces, we honor our Dartmouth Health veterans. There are hundreds, working in every location across our health system. These colleagues have served in the U.S. military in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard all over the world. They have served during peace time and during times of conflict and war, making great personal sacrifices to protect our freedoms. Our veteran colleagues are physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, allied health professionals and administrative employees—translating their military background and experiences into providing compassionate care to our patients. Our workplaces and communities are greatly enriched by their presence and dedication. In honor of Veterans Day, Dartmouth Health’s Military Employee Resource Group organized this celebration today at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Please join us in sharing a heartfelt thank you to all our Dartmouth Health veterans and military families. We are grateful for their service and sacrifice. • Dartmouth Health released this statement today, regarding the changes to NH legislation around gender affirming care for minors in the state. Dartmouth Health and on behalf of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee, wish to reaffirm at this critical time, that every patient is entitled to the care they and their healthcare providers deem appropriate. No one but the patient, their providers, and their parents or guardians if under the age of 18, should be involved with these very personal care decisions.

Half of the United States have limited or banned access to gender-affirming healthcare for minors who identify as transgender or gender-diverse. As of Friday, July 19, New Hampshire has joined them. Dartmouth Health Children's and the Dartmouth Health Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee wish to reaffirm at this critical time that every patient is entitled to the care they and their healthcare providers deem appropriate. The month of June, like every month, should be a time to deepen our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. Today we highlight the reflections of one of our Employee Resource Group leaders, and share some photos from the Lebanon Opera House Pride Picnic in Lebanon, NH, and Manchester Pride in Manchester, NH, community events recently attended. "Although I find ways to celebrate and honor Pride every year, this year has been one of the first years I've been deeply rooted in community efforts for Pride. It's been incredible meeting so many individuals who are either allies or also identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and are devoted to creating safe spaces in every corner of the communities we live and work within. These authentic connections and experiences allow me to feel even more validated and recognized in my identify as a queer individual. I also attribute building authentic connections through being a part of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Dartmouth Health, where allies and LGBTQIA2S+ employees' bond over shared experiences and support one another. Our ERG is attending multiple Prides this year, with Claremont, White River Junction, and Keene next, and acts as a resource hub for anyone from any organization who needs to know where to find specific LGBTQIA2S+ support in our communities. When times feel rockiest, it's important that we all continue to express care and allyship for one another, even beyond Pride month. This can look like showing up to LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive events, displaying pronouns or stickers, distributing inclusive resources, following legislation, and more. Through these efforts, we can continue building safe spaces for those that need it the most." - Hanna Brooks (She / Her / Hers) We hope that you'll stop by and say hi at one of the upcoming community-based Pride events our GSA ERG will be attending: 🏳️🌈 June 29 - Claremont Pride in Claremont, NH 🏳️🌈 July 27 - White River Junction Pride in White River Junction, VT 🏳️🌈 September 15 - Keene Pride in Keene, NH Learn more about the variety of Employee Resource Groups available in our health system and Dartmouth Health Office of DEIB at https://lnkd.in/eQipgMdT Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital Dartmouth Health Children's Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics Mt. • What is “Gender Affirming Care”? It might not be exactly what you think it is. Please listen to the words of Dr. Lim-Liberty about how health decisions are made, with families and care teams all doing best practice for the best outcomes for those involved. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
