They say good things come to those that wait but I believe good things come to those that work. Work not just for themselves but for their wider networks and the communities around them. This has never been truer for me than this week when we opened the doors "finally" to the Port Admiral Hotel and were engulfed in a groundswell of support from our wider community and my wider networks.

On track for what would be a record-breaking week at the Duke of Brunswick our established venue myself, Alex, and the team have been humbled by the support both this week and on the journey of the last six weeks.

Networks and relationships formed years ago during our partnership with Brand South Australia meant that the venue was seamlessly transformed into a gallery space thanks to Greer Tappert and Ben Saunders. Rhys Moult in between kicking off his new venture made time to come and help out for the day building furniture - crazy to think we met some nine years ago when he was my Telstra Business Awards Judge. Shout out also to Kelly Noble's team at Glam for the great feature.

A timely impromptu coffee with Michael Davis saw us recruit and appoint Neha Dogra as our Group Finance Officer and relationships formed over twenty years ago and maintained saw us fill an entire crew at the Admiral in a matter of weeks which included partnering with Scott Whitmore and SYC to complete a pre-employment program that saw five exceptional human beings join the team and start their hospo journey.

I still found time this week to make some new business friends who I am sure will ultimately become a part of my business family. We also appointed two new staff for Digital Marketing AOK as Meredith Waterhouse MAMI CPM and Payam Golbaghi continue to lead the team to more and more success through results for our clients allowing me to do what I love whilst still being involved.

My time may well be at a premium but you can always make time for what matters - it's just a question of focus and choice. Thanks for being part of the journey hope to see you for a beverage real soon.

So my parting advice - run your own race - the only person that knows where you are going is you, so keep hold of the map and chart your own course.

It is easy to make everything a conspiracy when you don't know how anything works
