Where do we go from here?

Drupal is a powerful, widely used content management system. It's open source. Many people cite the community that builds and maintains this software platform as the secret to its success. Drupal is used by some of the world's most interesting organisations.

Recently, the Drupal community found itself consumed by an issue it was ill-equipped to handle and which led to a lot of soul searching. That soul searching came by way of frustration, angst, and frankly, some pretty poor form on the part of some people who, perhaps, let their frustration get out of control.

But in the tumult of that storm, many of us acknowledged we must address some of the concerns raised or re-surfaced. These are long standing issues, for too long unresolved.

It's testament to the community, and some key members within it, that we've got this far dealing with these kinds of things on a case by case, and ad-hoc basis. But we're too big now. And it's too hard on too many volunteers.

How can we make hard decision making easier? How should we govern ourselves now and in the future? Some have suggested we should convene a summit to determine the next phase of our Community Governance.

If you consider yourself to be part of the Drupal community, I warmly invite you to help us take the next step in our journey. Please read this blog post, and then complete the survey.
