We at SIG: interview with Kerstin Pelin in celebration of International Volunteer Day

Kerstin Pelin, HR Process and System Expert in Cluj, lives by the core value of giving back to her community. In 2024, she and her husband celebrated all their milestones through volunteering, giving back, and making a positive impact.

How did you decide to make volunteering a central part of your 2024 journey?

Volunteering has always been a core value for me, inspired by my family. This year, my husband and I decided to celebrate life’s milestones by giving back

What has been the most impactful or memorable part of your volunteering experience?

Donating my hair for wigs for children battling cancer was incredibly rewarding. Another highlight was cooking and donating meals after our wedding—an act of gratitude that brought joy to many.

How has volunteering influenced you personally or professionally?

It taught me that kindness creates ripples of positivity. In my work at SIG, it encourages me to seek ways to support others and foster a giving mindset.

Kerstin is one of the employees who got involved in our #volunteerforbetter campaign, leading up to International Volunteer Day on December 5th.

Each story reminded us that no effort is too small to make a difference. Whether it’s organizing community meals, teaching underprivileged children, or cleaning up public spaces, our volunteers are the driving force behind positive change.
