Transformation
Those of you who know Yusef Wiley and his story should be very motivated and inspired to stay connected. As he plans his exit soon from the day to day of Timelist, he plans to take what he has learned over the past 20+ years and use it to advocate for other BIPOC led organizations, especially those that are trauma informed with lived experience leadership.
What is his plan for the future of Timelist?
First, identify and find potential candidates to become the next Executive Director who will be approved by the Board of Directors.
Continue as Consultant for organizations, government agencies around the topics of solutions to homelessness, workforce development, recidivism and reentry programs.
Yusef has expressed a serious commitment to Policy work around criminal justice reform, prison reform and policy work that engages the need for free training that better prepares incarcerated persons to reenter the community.
And lastly, a dedicated focus to create legislation that aims to support nonprofit organizations that often experience financial hardships. Yusef said that he wants to create legislation that govern nonprofits and enable them to gain greater access to working capital, payroll tax breaks, worker's compensation protections, lawsuit protections and many other areas that grants and funders do not consider relevant to funding needs.
In Yusef Wiley's own words:
California makes it very hard to do business and stay afloat as a nonprofit, so I need to find a way to solve this issue, especially as the cost of living in California continues to go up. 1/07/2024
