Key highlights
Climate Transition Plan
Launched in September 2024, our Plan outlines how we are carrying out the commitment, made in 2019, to become a net-zero business by 2050. We want to enable an economy-wide transition to net-zero while making society more resilient, advocating for supportive policies and evolving how we operate.
Leaders with Lacqua

Climate Risk StrategicRISK Report
In 2024, StrategicRISK published a special report in co-operation with Zurich Insurance which explores how risk managers are tackling climate change risks, focusing on their measurement sophistication, integration into risk management processes and board-level involvement.
Resilience from the Ground Up
“Resilience from the Ground Up” is a survey-based report produced by Economist Impact and supported by Zurich Insurance Group exploring the state of climate resilience across 10 global cities from the perspective of the people who live there. It also includes additional insights from climate experts highlighting the role of public private actors in building climate resilience.
Awards and recognition
Zurich Insurance Group has been named one of the top insurance companies in the Forbes World's Best Employers list 2024. This prestigious recognition is particularly meaningful as it is based on the voices of employees. We also won not one, not two but 10 coveted Brandon Hall Group awards. This was made possible thanks to our Customer Mastery Program and Empathy Training and our Zurich Commercial Insurance trainings. Eight gold, one silver, and one bronze recognize the exceptional training programs that promote learning and development opportunities across our organization.
Mergers and acquisitions
Last year, Zurich successfully completed its acquisition of a 70% stake in Zurich Kotak General Insurance, becoming the first foreign insurer to enter India since FDI rules were amended in 2021 to allow up to 74% foreign ownership. We also successfully completed our acquisition of AIG’s global personal travel insurance and assistance business, including Travel Guard. AIG’s former global personal travel insurance and assistance business is combined with Zurich-owned travel insurance provider Cover-More Group.
Zurich Forest Project extension
Given the success of the Zurich Forest Project, a collaboration with Instituto Terra, in 2024 we expanded our engagement, enabling Instituto Terra to acquire additional land to triple the size of the land owned by Instituto Terra which now totals 2,448 hectares. We are also supporting the acquisition of essential infrastructure and the establishment of a new nursery with the capacity to produce at least 1 million seedlings a year. This initiative isn’t just about trees; it’s about breathing life back into degraded ecosystems, boosting biodiversity, and championing environmental sustainability.

Z Zurich Foundation Impact Report
Our Z Zurich Foundation published its Impact Report 2023. It was a truly remarkable year for the foundation, as it celebrated a significant milestone — its 50th anniversary. Our people volunteered over 146,000 hours worldwide, raised a significant amount of funds for causes close to their hearts and positively impacted the lives of at least 5.9 million individuals through programming activities.
