1. Incredible Impact of The Great Resignation on Teams by Patrick Lencioni
On the 20th anniversary of his best-selling book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Patrick Lencioni, Founder and President of The Table Group discussed the incredible impact of The Great Resignation on teams and shared unique insights on how to unlock organizational success through the development of high performing teams. Some inspirational quotes from Patrick Lencioni were as follows:
“When the leader shows vulnerability, the employees will follow. “
“Heroism is what happens in a leader’s heart to make it better for others. “
“Expectations for employees cannot be better than expectations for leaders.“
“Best organizations, model the leadership from the top down. “
“Employees don’t want a raise as much as they want to be known, be told they are making a difference and they are doing a good job. “
“As a leader you need to anticipate your clients’ and employees’ objections. Tell them you know what they are thinking. “
“Can you rebuild trust on a team or should you start from scratch? It is real work to rebuild trust on a team. Consider the analogy that scar tissue heals stronger. Surface the event and heal from it so your team is stronger than ever. “
“Teambuilding is not an event……it is a process. “

3. Keynote: Emotional Agility with Dr. Susan David
Dr. Susan David, Author of best selling book, Emotional Agility: Get Unstuck, Embrace Change, and Thrive in Work and Life, shared with the audience that emotional agility is a key skill set that enables people to remain curious, courageous, and value-committed—even in times of challenge. She informed the audience that being hooked by thoughts, emotions, and stories hinders you from thriving. She shared few practical tips on how to unlock performance in others and feel more connected to your mission than ever before. Here are few thoughts she shared with the audience:
“Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is fear walking.”
“We need to accept BOTHNESS. You will still hear birds chirping in the forest while the forest is burning.”
“You cannot mandate. You can cultivate. “
The body doesn’t know what to do when you say you feel stress. Consider what emotion you are really feeling. Anger, Loneliness, Disappointment, etc.
It is not enough to say “just get on with it by being positive”. We cannot accept forceful positivity. Consider the emotion you are feeling and be mindful of what that is telling you in the circumstance. Use coping skills to deal with the emotions you are feeling.
Our emotions signpost what we care about and what we value.
During our time at the event, we were struck by the enthusiasm amongst partners, speakers and leaders alike, as they continue working and growing together to make things happen.
