The Stories That Matter to Me as a Parent?
As a parent, the stories that matter most are the ones that define my children’s journeys—their triumphs, challenges, and the unforgettable moments that connect us to the communities that shape them. These stories are about more than wins and losses. They’re about the bonds formed, the lessons learned, and the memories that last a lifetime.
The stories we hold dear, often come alive through photos and videos. Looking at these images takes me back to how it felt to be there—the excitement, the pride, the joy of the moment. Yet, as I reflect on these memories, I’m reminded of how fleeting they can be. Without a way to truly preserve them, they risk fading over time. That’s why I’m grateful for tools like Vidigami, which not only capture these stories but also protect and celebrate the moments that define our children’s lives and the communities that shape them.
We invested in our children’s education because we knew they were joining communities that would support them when things were tough and would celebrate with them when good things happened.
Recently, my brother asked me what I remember from my own sports career. I paused, realizing that my stories—once so vivid—have drifted away, replaced by something even more meaningful: the stories my kids have created. Their journeys, filled with highs and lows, have become the stories I cherish most.
Meaningful Stories
I’ll never forget Ethan’s senior year and his team’s incredible CIF championship run. In the semifinals, they faced one of the top-ranked teams in the state on the road and won in extra innings, advancing to the finals. In the championship game, the stakes were even higher. Trailing 5-0 and then 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, they did the unthinkable. With grit and determination, they rallied to score four runs, walking off the game to secure the title. It was a story of resilience, teamwork, and heart—the kind of moment that reminds you why sports matter.
Miye’s journey was just as remarkable. Her senior year was a rollercoaster of emotions during her soccer team’s Championship run and simultaneously her basketball team’s Championship run. In the first round of soccer, they came from behind to win 2-1. The second round saw them go down again but prevail in golden goal, 2-1. Then came the semifinals, where they tied the game in injury time and won in penalty kicks, then she ran off the field to go to the semifinals for basketball where they came back to win a close game. The connections and memories formed during that run are ones we’ll carry forever as a family. Miye and her teammates sold out a stadium for the CIF Championship game and won 2-0! And the story didn’t end there—less than 24 hours after winning the CIF soccer championship, Miye helped her basketball team come back from a deficit in the third quarter to secure their own CIF title, followed by a SoCal Regional Championship in soccer the following week.
These moments weren’t just about the victories or awards; they were about the people who made them possible—teammates, coaches, and families who came together to create something unforgettable. And while the experiences themselves may pass, preserving these stories ensures their impact lon the ives at their schools.
Why Preserving Stories Matters
How can schools preserve these incredible moments? Schools are instrumental in the journey of these young people and should remind families of these incredible accomplishments. These moments should bond families to their schools forever. Relive these moments with your families to remind them of what they accomplished at the scool.
As parents, we treasure these stories, but they’re fleeting unless we find ways to preserve them. That’s why tools like Vidigami are so invaluable. Vidigami isn’t just a platform for sharing photos—it’s a digital archive that captures and protects the history of a school community. Every photo, every video, and every tagged moment becomes part of a living memory bank that families, students, and alumni can revisit for years to come. It reminds us of why we are investing in our kids education. It allows each of us to share what was most meaningful with our school.
When I think about Ethan’s and Miye’s journeys, I’m thankful for the moments captured by others—the celebrations, the candid shots, and the images that let us relive those incredible experiences. Vidigami ensures these stories aren’t lost or forgotten; instead, they become part of a collective legacy that connects the past to the future. If we are protecting these important events, how will we be able to celebrate them in the future?
For me, my stories have shifted to my kids’ stories, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Their experiences are a reminder of the power of community and the importance of preserving the moments that matter – moments that Vidigami ensures will never be forgotten.
What are the stories that matter to you as a parent? Let’s keep capturing them, sharing them, and celebrating the incredible journeys that shape our children, schools, and communities.
