Spoiler: Your New 2025 Planner Won’t Save You
Looking at new 2025 planners for Cyber Monday because you think it will solve all your planning and organizing problems?
Or maybe it will just really change your life?
Don’t do it.
The reality is that a new planner with the same, old habits won’t actually make a difference.
You’ll still be overwhelmed trying to keep track of everything on your plate.
You’ll still be in ‘react’ mode to things that come at you unexpectedly.
Instead of buying that new planner or digital app that’s on super sale today, take a minute to look at your own habits:
Do you sit down every week to plan out your priorities?
Do you take a few minutes every morning to identify your top 3 things for the day?
Do you map out everything that has to be done to get that big, new project finished on time (or even ahead of time)?
If you’re not doing some form of these in your biz, then that new planner won’t make any difference in your frustration and overcommitment.
One of the easiest things you can do to start to develop those more productive habits around time management?
Make a personalized schedule each week.
Sit down on Monday morning (or Sunday afternoon, or Friday) and look at what’s on your schedule for the next week.
Look at scheduled meetings - do you need to set aside time to prepare before or debrief after?
What do you HAVE to get done due to external deadlines?
What would you LIKE to get done as well?
THEN also consider any non-work things - family commitments? Extracurricular activities?
Then consider your expected energy levels each day based on things like your cycle, how busy each day is, and any other energy-sucking factors.
Take all of these things and give each item a time estimate. Overestimate what you think it’ll take.
Then you can choose - do you want to timeblock out each day?
Or would you rather have a list of things that you want to get done each day but not scheduled out?
Totally up to you and what works best for the way your brain works.
And if this seems completely overwhelming on TOP of already being overwhelmed getting everything done before the end of the year like wrapping up client work and planning for next year and.. and.. and..?
That’s where my Power Planning VIP Day comes in.
We’ll figure out what your priorities are for the end of the year and map out a realistic, do-able, totally un-overwhelming plan to get it all done.
