Solving Key Logistics Challenges in Aircraft Maintenance with Data Analytics - Post Webinar Insights
Post-Webinar Insights: Advanced Perspectives on Aircraft Maintenance with AVILYTICS
The recent AVILYTICS Webinar on optimizing aircraft maintenance logistics offered valuable insights into how data-driven tools enhance operational efficiency. This article highlights key takeaways and answers technical questions raised during the session.
Defining AVILYTICS in the Context of Aviation Data Analytics
AVILYTICS is an advanced aviation data analytics platform designed to support decision-making through data visualization and process optimization. Its main features include:
Vendor Performance Monitoring: Tracks supplier performance by measuring turnaround times and service reliability.
Inventory Management Tools: Helps align purchasing with actual usage using predictive analytics.
Procurement Insights: Provides detailed reports for smarter purchasing decisions.
Q&A Recap: Addressing Core Technical Challenges
The webinar featured in-depth discussions addressing common challenges in aircraft maintenance. Here are some of the most relevant questions and answers:
Vendor Performance Metrics: An Analytical Framework
Can Avilytics be integrated with live data from the M&E (AMOS) system?
A: Yes, Avilytics integrates powerfully with AMOS, requiring an IPSEC VPN connection to the database.
Is quarantine taken into consideration for vendor performance?
A: Yes. If a part moves into quarantine, the incoming receiving timestamp is not completed until the part is released from quarantine. Only then is the incoming inspection timestamp used for TAT calculation.
What are the criteria used to benchmark performance?
A: Vendor performance is based on the date/time each specific order was created vs. the date/time the specific order is received in the customer warehouse. This is determined through an incoming goods transaction.
Can we get minimum inventory details for addressing unscheduled removals exclusive of planned demand?
A: This is currently limited within Avilytics. Most insights on this are in the component reliability module. A new function dedicated to long-term material demand forecasting, including unscheduled maintenance, is expected to go live in March 2025.
Is automated procurement based on reorder thresholds feasible?
A: For select MRO/M&E systems such as AMOS, automated reordering protocols can be configured based on predefined inventory thresholds.
Is customization available within AVILYTICS?
A: Dashboards in AVILYTICS are off-the-shelf and continuously developed based on customer input. In case very specific customizations are needed, we tend to recommend using the Developer License.
