Sharing the Love from our First Communities of Belonging Summit

Wow. In all my years of working in Diversity and Inclusion: I have never seen a greater commitment from the leadership team than the one at GitHub.

Over the past two days, we organized a cross-functional Summit with our incredible Communities of Belonging (aka ERGs). Throughout the Summit, our CoB leaders from across the company came together to forge new connections, share best practices, and advance our Better Together values in their day-to-day lives. Not only did each of these leaders make the time to be in Bellevue in person, but our entire Leadership Team did, too—joining our Communities of Belonging for a day of leadership development and skill building... as well as just having real talk!

One of the core principles of this work is understanding the difference between intention and impact. I am so grateful to my colleagues at GitHub for not just talking the talk, but truly walking the walk by making a tangible investment in DI&B at our organization with their most valuable resource: their time.

As Thomas Dohmke shared in his opening remarks: we won’t remember everything we do over the course of our careers, but over time, our best moments become a kind of highlight reel. This week is certainly part of mine.
