QUIET THE MADNESS

QUIET THE MADNESS

The busy-ness of life, raising kids, working a 9-5, and other opportunities for connection are all things that can drown out intentional development.

You have to fight for your development.

In order to do that, you have to kill the harlot emotions within you, manage the double agent, and learn to run with horses

1. Kill the Harlot Emotion

For me, self-pity is a main “harlot emotion.” This can often be triggered by feelings of worthlessness, inadequacy, or low self confidence. When you start to feel the emotion of self-pity come into light, don’t stuff it down allowing shame to develop.

Be curious and compassionate with yourself, and find the deeper “why” behind your self-pity. Killing those harlot emotions can be a game changer when the time comes for you to fight through being overlooked or challenged in your craft.

2. Manage the Double Agent:

f you don’t learn to healthily manage your greatest strengths, it can become your greatest weakness. So many people in our current cultural moment are drunk off of their talents and abilities, and quickly become agents of arrogance.

If you can’t manage your pride on your own, surround yourself with people who are willing to speak truth into your life.

3. Run with Horses

Whether you’re a stay at home mom, a C-Suite Executive, a DEI representative, or a successful entrepreneur, the race we’re running isn’t for the faint of heart. Resilience can only be developed through some level of pain or sacrifice.

If you find that the sacrifices you’re experiencing now are wearing you out, you may not have what it takes to run with horses and that’s OKAY. But, you have to be authentic in self-awareness to know and operate within your limits. Remind yourself of what the “mains” in your life are, and allow yourself to focus on those. Drown out the noise, and focus on what brings you life.

Take some time to reflect today on what season of life you’re in. Do you need to kill a harlot emotion, manage a double agent, or learn to run with horses?
