Personal Development; Basic Building Block For Success

Personal Development; Basic Building Block For Success

Personal development is not just about buffing up your best bits; it's key if you're chasing success. If you want a better life, you've got to be a better you. Easy to say. But staring down those bits of yourself you're not so proud of and deciding to do something about it? That's the tough part. You can't just sweep stuff under the rug or make excuses. It's about owning up to where you're falling short, but not letting it knock your self-esteem.

Honestly, without doubling down on personal growth, I reckon I wouldn't be where I am today.

I'm one of the founders behind Ethical Property Investments, where we're all about setting up sustainable homes for people in Australia who need it most. My own journey kicked off when my family and I landed in Australia, not exactly flush with cash. Times were tight, but my dad was all about personal growth. It was his drive that helped us climb out of financial difficulty and lend a hand to others.

My story might sound like your typical "from zero to hero" deal, but the bit that often gets glossed over is the sheer hard yakka involved—the endless hours spent learning, absorbing information like a sponge, and a rock-solid commitment to bettering myself. Dad turned himself into a bit of a wiz in property investment, dragging me to every seminar and talk he could find. I was that kid tagging along, soaking it all up.

Fast forward to my late teens, and Dad's investments started paying off big time. He put everything he learned into action, and before you knew it, we were on a roll. We set up our own company, and I started building my own property empire.

Nowadays, I use what I've made to help those struggling to find a place to call home. We're building awesome, accessible houses for people with disabilities, giving investors a chance to do some good while still making a tidy profit.

I believe my success is all down to choosing to grow, learn, and constantly push myself to be better.

Investing in self growth

  • Forces you to get real about what you're good at and what needs work. Acknowledging your weak spots isn't admitting defeat. It's the first step to either sort them out or make sure they don't trip you up on your way to the top.
  • Makes you more of a heavyweight. The more you know and the more people you meet, the bigger your influence grows.
  • Setting goals that actually mean something. Personal development helps you figure out what you want, and then smash those targets.
  • Opens your eyes to the chances floating around you. With a bit of knowledge and the right attitude, you start seeing opportunities everywhere.

Getting better at something doesn't have to feel like a mountain to climb. Just pick something that gets your heart racing—in my case, it was all about property. That was my jam, and look where it's got me.

Being open to learning and growing can and does open more doors than staying stuck.
