Nurturing Local Talent in Singapore

Nurturing Local Talent in Singapore

One of the ways we help build our industry’s talent pipeline is by nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity leaders. Read on to learn how learning opportunities help us network with students from key programs in Singapore.

Our Singapore team recently hosted twenty members of the Singapore Institute of Technology’s N0H4TS Club, a cybersecurity club for students. Customer Support Director Hamza Ismawi hosted an introductory session on identity security and shared information about his team’s contributions to CyberArk.

“We were thrilled to once again partner with the Singapore Institute of Technology and host the SIT N0H4TS Club at CyberArk. These partnerships don’t just demonstrate our leadership in the local market – they’re an important part of our brand-building journey with local institutions and our early career recruitment strategy for technical positions in Singapore,” said Edlyn Ong, Manager, Talent Acquisition - APJ.

For the club members, discovering that we have multiple SIT alumni working at CyberArk can provide a tangible glimpse into their future. It’s even more inspiring to hear directly from these alumni: the students were able to attend a panel with P. Udaiya Chandran, Associate Support Engineer and SIT alumnus, who joined Che Cheung, Team Leader, Customer Support, and Shi Hao Koh, Senior Support Engineer, to discuss their cybersecurity career journeys.

“As the students consider the next steps in their cybersecurity journey, it’s powerful for them to see how they could put their talents to use at CyberArk and understand the success of their fellow SIT alumni. We hope they were inspired by our colleagues’ stories, and we look forward to future partnerships with SIT,” continued Edlyn.

“Our team thanks our CyberArk colleagues who made this program such a success. I want to give a special shoutout to those who are SIT alumni and participated in the networking session. The office was filled with engaging conversations between students and our colleagues,” said Deborah Heng Talent Operations & Programs Coordinator - APJ.

Supporting the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Leaders

This office visit isn’t our only collaboration with the SIT N0H4TS Club – and SIT isn’t the only Singapore institution that’s a talent partner. With the support of Gali Rotem, Senior Director, Global Education Services, we collaborated with the SIT N0H4TS Club and two additional university clubs to sponsor their competitions, offering CyberArk training vouchers to the winners.

This is the second year the CyberArk team has sponsored CyberBlitz, the N0H4TS Club’s annual “Capture the Flag” (CTF) competition lab. Participants must solve different cybersecurity challenges, gaining a “flag” and points for each successful challenge. The event aims to demystify cybersecurity through engaging challenges and practical learning experiences while allowing participants to learn about the field, regardless of skill level. This year, CyberArk offered a special training – “Threat Detection and Analysis for Security Operators” – to the top three teams.

In March, the Singapore team supported Nanyang Technological University by sponsoring their Women in Tech Club’s Beyond Binary Ideathon. We awarded an Introduction to CyberArk Identity Administration training voucher to participants on the top three teams. During the prize ceremony, Carol Pang, Director, SDR & Enablement - APJ, distributed the vouchers and shared more information about CyberArk with participants.

In September, we visited Singapore Management University, where the top twenty participants at the WhiteHat Society’s Cybersecurity Fundamentals Workshop received a voucher for our “Threat Detection and Analysis for Security Operators” training. Koh Ssu Han, Director, Solutions Engineering - ASEAN spoke to club members about identity security and CyberArk, and Sean Tan, a current SMU student and former CyberArk SDR intern, discussed his CyberArk internship experience.
