Kicking Off Something New? Colorado's Sales Leaders Join Forces for the First Time

Imagine getting a bunch of Colorado's sharpest sales minds together in one room for the very first time. Sounds pretty cool, right?

That's exactly what happened last week and it was pretty cool.

Launching this initiative and doing this for the first time with a group of people I had never met in person was a mix of "Wow, this is happening" and "Okay, how's this going to go?"

Because this wasn't just another meeting; it was a first-of-its-kind get-together where we sat around a gorgeous 260 year old redwood tree that had been crafted into a boardroom table, and we dove into the real deal of sales.

We tackled a number of topics from the tough parts of being a sales leader to finding new ways to win customers and making sure we're bringing the right people on board.

Getting Real with Leadership

Like most in leadership roles, the belief is that sales leaders have it all figured out, but the beauty of this 'focus group' was the power in being real about the ups and downs. Sharing the nitty-gritty, the wins and the not-so-great moments, made everyone feel more connected and that connection from my perspective was awesome. Turns out, being open about the tough stuff doesn't just bring people closer; it sparks new ideas and makes everyone want to do better.

Finding Fresh Ways to Connect with Customers

Getting new leads is what keeps the sales world spinning and the pipeline flowing, but I think we all realise that the old playbook isn't cutting it anymore. The game is changing fast, and staying ahead means trying out new stuff, whether it's the latest tech, a fresh approach or even a focus group. And getting clear on that Ideal Client Profile is not just something small businesses need to work on - big businesses work on it, too!

The challenge of lead generation was overwhelmingly a priority.

I loved the fact that this forum is just the tip of the ice-burg when it comes to swapping those "what's worked for you?" stories and getting inspired to try new things.

Choosing the Right Teammates for the Ride

What we all agreed on is that building a great sales team (and leadership team) isn't just about finding folks with the right skills on paper. It's about finding people who fit right in, who can roll with the punches and help keep the team vibe positive without sucking time from others who are already doing good work and making them do even more. It's like looking ahead and making sure you're not just filling a seat but adding someone who'll grow with the team and who cares! No surprises here with this challenge for leaders.

What's Next: Embracing the Adventure Together

This inaugural Sales Leaders Colorado Focus Group is just the start. For me it was definitely stepping into new territory with a bit of excitement and, sure, a few butterflies because I have not initiated something like this before. But like anything new, when you are being open, ready to shake things up, and thoughtful about who's in the room with you, you'll most always be setting yourself up for the win.

As we keep moving forward in anything - whether it be leadership, prospecting or hiring and onboarding, it's all about trusting ourselves and bringing that spirit of uncertainty into what we do.

No one knows what any outcome will be, because we cant see into the future but the road ahead is full of possibilities. Always!

And with a group like this kicking my initiative off, it's only going to help me as I take my next steps and facilitate the next focus group.

HERE'S MY QUESTION TO YOU!

Who can you bring together for meaningful conversations that will help you move the needle and create more of an impact in your world?

Clients? Prospects? Team Mates? Friends?

Let me know!

Continue to be Bold, Brave and Brilliant!
